I really hate the gen4 starters, they're all ugly and not even in a good way. I like chunky, mean, deliberately ugly mons like Emboar, but the Gen IV starters are just shit and my reaction to all of them was 'are you fucking serious?'
Chimchar line is the laziest design I have ever seen, it is literally a monkey on fire. I know that's an overused criticism of mons but just look at the thing. Plus it's yet another fucking fire/fighting.
Torterra line is basically Venusaur II: Shittastic Boogaloo. Maybe if it wasn't a starter, I might like it, and it's definitely the best gen 4 starter, but being the best of a bad bunch doesn't mean it's good. Decent concept, carried out horrendously.
Empoleon is a complete piece of shit. I LOVED Piplup, he was a cute little fuck, but he evolves into this ugly, overdesigned motherfucker? Jesus Game Freak, I want my money. At least Gen 5 got back on track with good starters and Gen 6 is looking good.
