I've wanted a shiny weavile ever since I played HG. Never been successful MMing for one but I won't give up this time.

About 7 boxes in. I've hoarded 4 boxes of eggs and am mass hatching. Anyone else do this? I hear it's not actually as efficient as hatching and picking up as you go, but I'm enjoying it a little more. Plan to hoard every 4-5 boxes, hatch, repeat.

No, females pass down whatever Pokeball to the offspring. So for example, if the mother parent is in a luxury Ball, the egg's will hatch babies into a Luxury Ball.

It doesn't matter which Ball, it's just for personal preference. Sorry if the wording is confusing in that, I'm going to re-write that part. You're not the first person to misunderstand it.

Is it possible for foreign tags to disappear?

I don't have any idea how this would happen, but recently I traded an egg to a friend with a German-language game to hatch for MMing. Friend hatched it, gave it back, everything was great. I just took it out of the daycare and notice while it still had its german-language name, the "GER" tag had disappeared. I asked my friend about it and he looked at his game only to find the same thing had happened with his French furfrou.

I've never heard of this happening and doesn't make any fucking sense. Does anyone know anything about this?

It might be worth checking. I just bred some other non-english 'mons but they kept their tags—but they weren't in the daycare for more than a few minutes.

I hope they don't "naturalize" and change their tag or something if left out of the box for a while.

it shouldn't matter that much though, as long as the pokes are still from two seperate regions, so i it did lose its tag, as long as one is still foreign. So that means maybe breed to other foreigns in the future?

Oh, I know why that happened. The foreign tag is made when the egg is made, NOT hatched, it will have a name in the language of and the OT of the person who hatched it, but will still be considered your language. So you can't trade an egg to someone to get a good MMing candidate. You need to trade them parents and have them breed a good mon for you. If you give your friend two 5IV parents they should be able to breed you a 5IV child real quickly though.

Hatched this yesterday after only 137 eggs, I love it, missing SpDef but I'm only using it as a physical wall anyway. Maybe considering trying to hatch a shiny Tyrunt next but not too sure.

I did once, but I found it way more stressful than MMing, when you break a long chain it just hurts. I kinda lost motivation to keep trying more than a couple times before turning of the game so it took a few days to get the shiny I wanted from it. Happy with what I got, but don't really plan on doing it again.

I've only ran into one random poke, and it was a super lucky encounter. I was hatching eggs and accidentally ran into the grass where the eevees are and found a shiny eevee with a good nature for an umbreon, the only shiny eeveelution i would want. Super awesome.

Just hatched a shiny bulletproof Chespin! And on my half birthday no less. My second Gen VI shiny and my first MM shiny ever. It took about 14 boxes, not counting all the pre-breeding it took to get a penta-flawless female bulletproof parent.

Now to IV check and wonder trade all these other Chespin.

Extra autism time: I saved before I hatched his batch of eggs, so I could reset and hatch him in a different location if I wanted to. Do any of you guys do that for shinies, or is that too autistic even for /vp/?

Once upon a time, even mentioning instacheck in these threads caused dismay, so people who were genuinely interested just took it entirely to those threads out of consideration. Anyone who even mentioned the word would just get a series of sarcastic replies or "this is bait"-esque images.

I didn't say you've committed some grievous error, I'm just personally a little disappointed that shiny hunt general isn't really much of a hunt if it's cool with instacheck all of a sudden. Like I said, to each their own, just caught me off guard.

It will be because you will take two 5iv perfect scythers, breed them, deposit the eggs. 19/96 or 19.79% of them will be 5iv or even 6iv!

Then you scan all your boxes. Two boxes is good. If you do 3 boxes, you've got a little under 19 perfect Scythers on your hands. Then you post them in the SV or search the several databases for a SV match, trade it over, get it back and....BAM! Perfect shiny! Nobody knows for sure, even if Serebii is pretending he does. The people who first got into the codes already said that he was talking out of his ass about the Masuda Rates, but they DO think standard rates are 1/4096.

Again, with only a couple of people able to "confirm" anything, and one of them is reporting unconfirmed stats as facts, it's kinda hard to accept anything as 100% fact, at least not yet.

I was involved in checking all of the data with the folks at PP right at the start. The fact that the shiny values instacheck reports are correct proves it. You're correct in saying that we don't know the Masuda rate though.
