>>17721310This was further reinforced by Pokemon Amie. Whenever you pet a Gardevoir, it bows like a medieval knight. It's not a waifu, nor a husbando.
It's essentially your own pocket knight.

To be exact, the idea was the classic 'Take money, kick ass, become a legend.' Then at some point during the making we laughed at how people feminized Gardevoir, and then apparently a guy dared other to make it manly.
Enter Roland, the male Ralts. His trainer was some sort of descendant from a family of knights, and it was a custom for them to take with them one of these guys as their squires and become men.
And holy shit if Roland didn't. Honouring his namesake, he never feared a challenge, followed the chivalric code, and was an overall badass as far as pets go. By using his psychic powers to form some sort of blades, he went into CQC and formed barries and shit.
At some point when we were something like level 50 or so the GM got tired and moved on to other business, but the whole idea of Gardevoir not being a waifu but just a knight with more class than the other mons remains stuck in my head.
