WHY WHY WHY doesn't anyone explain this in detail?
At least none of the fifty-odd articles or videos I've seen.

This is such a noob thing, so I'm very sorry, but I really need help. Even if you just throw me a link, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm still trying to work out exactly how the destiny knot works.
I'm using the time-machine method, with 2 test magikarps. The magikarps are definitely fresh caught - no evs.
I give one the destiny knot, and the baby ends up with 3 or 4 completely random stats - stats that don't match the numbers on either parent in any category!

Eg:
Female
HitPoints: 80
Attack: 21
Defense: 82
Sp. Att: 35
Sp. Def: 26
Speed: 91

Male
HitPoints: 82
Attack: 20
Defense: 63
Sp. Att: 21
Sp. Def: 42
Speed: 90

Baby
HitPoints: 80
Attack: 23
Defense: 82
Sp. Att: 41
Sp. Def: 26
Speed: 89

It just doesn't make any sense. The destiny knot is just not doing what it's supposed to.
