Dude Mudkip is literally the easiest starter run in all of Pokemon.

It evolves to Marshtomp well before Wattson. It's immune to him and has Mud Shot to fuck literally all of his Pokemon.

Treecko is the hard mode.

Treecko is also the best mode.

And Steel resists Grass, Bug, Normal, and Dark.

So Grovyle is fucked. You can get Geodude and Lotad for Wattson and Flannery but you can't even get a Water Stone for Lombre by that point, and Graveller can't evolve unless you trade it.

You can clear the entire game with Swampert alone because of Surf/Earthquake STAB and Ice Beam and Return as coverage; Water starters are always the absolute easiest to use.

If you knew about arboreal mobility and gecko biology you'd know that the Sceptile bush tail is actually much much better than Grovyle's two leaves.

I'm not trying to imply anything but I used to think Grovyle was better than Sceptile in middle school, before Sceptile grew on me.

He's the Pokemon equivalent of JFK.

Getting OR first but will probably get AS for my sister when she gets a 3DS. I haven't decided on who I'm going to start with yet. I usually used Swampert in Emerald runs, even though I really don't like it, because of Tate and Liza. I was too lazy to train a Sharpedo or Wailord when I was a kid. In the end I'll probably just breed something to transfer with bank to use as a starter.

Overall I'd they have the most interesting designs, but the volcanic badger is still my favorite (because he's my starter bro).

Still tossing up between Treecko and Mudkip. When I played the game in my childhood I always picked Mudkip or Torchic, but I'm kind of sick of Blaziken after all its creator worship.

Gen 3 is the only gen were I liked all the starters enough to use them through at least one play through. 4 came close, but while I do like Infernape it isn't enough for me to ever choose it over Empoleon or Torterra.

6 gets a special mention because I do actually like all three starters. It's just that X and Y were so boring to me that I never bothered doing another play through.
