That or they'll rework the game to not require those things. I really doubt that they'd backpedal like that. One of the big things about Gen VI was the lack of requirement of HMs, and if they're following the same formula here, I get the feeling they'll just not require flash for caves now, and rock smash will still be treated as just a TM.

All they need to do is making HMs like Cut more powerful and hard to find (after all their names is HIDDEN fucking machines, and yet in most recent titles they are all given to you by NPCs, when TMs are the hidden ones, odd isn't it?)

People wouln't complain about HMs if they actually felt worth using, even though they are not instantly removable.

They didn't change Kanto or Johto aside from adding new stuff.

If anything they'll replace it with a puzzle that's either as difficult or more difficult.

Dude almost everyone has a water pokemon in his team with Surf on it so thats not a problem, BW only needed to use Cut once and then Surf if you wanted to backtrack for a Haxorus

The problem is that in game you don't want your water type to be stuck with a crap tons of water moves like Surf, Waterfall, Dive and Whirpool, that's why people prefer using HM slaves

I thought hidden would mean moves that are hidden from the Pokemon's movepool, as in you can learn 4 moves, and have those extra HMs on the side...

makes a lot more sense IMO

They're just gonna take out the boulder puzzles entirely.
Also you'll find all 3 Golems in one cave which consists of only one room.
I swear to god after XY Im legitimately scared of how they are gonna fuck this up.
