I really feel like it's gonna end up losing Prankster. It just doesn't LOOK like it has it anymore, the jewel gimmick is too much to pass up.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: Stall.

BEST CASE SCENARIO: Wonder Guard.

In XY you will have to update the game to get an item in Kiloude city that allows you to trade with ORAS.
In ORAS, you get Celebi/Dialga/etc in order to go back in time to see how Groudon and Kyogre's battle ended to stop them. Then you can go into the future post-game to trade with XY. This is only possible since they take place at different times.

But the thing was that RSE and FRLG took place at the same time, so simply upgrading the system to connect to hoenn made sense. Now, XY takes place ~10 years in the future and they have to show how those two different time periods connect.

Holy shit, that's a solid 10/10 design. I love how GF made Sableye even more sneakier by making it hide behind a huge jewel and peeking from behind it. One of my top 3 Megas design-wise but I don't think I'll be using it in battle.

It's fine dude, Sableye is my favorite pokemon and has been since I first caught one in Sapphire.

I remember being bummed out back then though when I realized by the end game Sableye was under-performing dramatically in contrast to the rest of my party. I couldn't justify using it ever again even in-game until it got Prankster in B/W. That was a godsend since any team I make now feels incomplete without my little Prankster Sableye bro.

The new Mega-Evolution, I kinda miss the blue color of its eye gems but I'm glad the design still has the basics of what made me love default Sableye. I hope they find a good way to make this Mega Evo an actual improvement, but if they don't I won't be too bothered since I'll still have my Prankster Sableye.

It's funny that i didn't realize until now how convenient it was for GF to come up wit the idea of MegaEvolutions.
They give us the illusions of creating something new, while all they do is "upgrading" the form of the Pokemon, we get hyped and they don't have to worry about all the problems that come with a proper evolution of older pokemon ( new name, new personality, too many dex slots, new evolution methods).
And they also refreshed the franchise, while getting the chance to suck on genwunner's dick.

It has 380 BST. They're obviously either going to let it keep Prankster because it's one of the best abilities in the game, or like Mawile they're going to give it an ability that compensates for its shitty 480 BST mega evo. Maybe some flavor variant of Fur Coat.

I just realized that all the pokemon that made up my party in Emerald (minus my HM slave(s) which I can't remember) are all able to Mega-Evolve now. I planned on recreating this party in Alpha Sapphire (plus one more that's not an HM slave), but now I must chose which one of them should get a Mega Stone.

Consider the following:

Mawile and Sableye are counterparts as we all know. They both have shitty stats, and even after Mega Evolving their BST only reaches 480 which is not impressive by any means. This is why Mawile was given Huge Power: to compensate for the lack of stats. It's pretty much guaranteed that GF has done something similar to Sableye. Furthermore, since M-Mawile is offensive as HELL (it has the higest Attack stat in the game with Huge Power) it's very safe to assume that M-Sableye will be defensive as HELL, which is supported by the fact that it has a massive jewel shield. My guess is that M-Sableye's Ability will be something similar to Fur Coat (Jewel Shield?) so that it will either reduce physical or special damage by 50% or all damage by 25%. Sableye is also very likely to get +30 in both Defenses, so we're dealing with an absolute defensive monster here since it also has reliable recovery. Of course, it's going to perform a completely different role than regular Sableye, acting more as a wall instead of an annoying shit who just burns and taunts everything.

As someone who used Sableye on their team during the heyday of the original ruby and sapphire I feel both happy and a bit pissed off.

Happy because they finally give it better stats to work with, pissed offed because they just simply gave it a mega form instead of a proper evolution like I thought sableye should have had.

Because Sableye is primarily used as a utility mon, it doesn't really damage its core strategy while making it very very durable.

It actually would make perfect sense if it got wonder guar considering its counterpart got the best offensive ability, huge power so sableye should get the est defensive one, wonder guard.
Also the only type that could hit sableye is fairy.
And most of the stat boosts when mega evolving would go to offense

prankster sableye with more + 100 in defenses.. is a little overkill.. there is not many pokes that can ohko it if they are not boosted (priority taunt) .. priority recover + status + taunt + inmunity make him a very hard poke to counter

so he is almost certainly lose prankster.. and i will be sad
