what's /vp/'s opinion on this game? i just noticed that it came out today. I never got into the trading card game as a kid and i was thinking of trying this game out to see what i missed.

that free ORAS demo is just a bonus

There actually WAS a sequel, but it was never released outside of Japan. There's a fan translation floating around that I have but haven't gotten around to playing yet. It involves a group called Team Great Rocket who is stealing Legendary Cards for some nefarious purpose to add a little extra something to the story, plus more cards for variety. If they'd released it over here I'd have snapped it up in a heartbeat, as would many others I'm sure. If only they had, we might have had that card video game franchise.

Every track in the game is gold. The cards are limited and there isn't a lot of replay value (what I heard about TCG2 being the GSC of TCG1's RBY and having both a new region and the old one and having more cards might help, though), but fuck, man, that music.

It's actually really good. Bit grindy, but solid.

I still play the physical copy every few years. I own several because it's a game I used to see all the time second hand for dirt cheap.

It's really good fun OP, and as other anons have said the music is great. I'd definitely recommend it.

They explain all the mechanics to you and the first gen TCG was pretty straightforward, so don't worry. It's totally accessible.

The main difficulty is navigating menus, but fooling around with them for a few minutes sorts that out. Other than that, hope for good draws, grind against trainers who get completed crushed by your deck for packs of new cards, edit your deck with new good cards you pull, and have at it. Also punch Imakuni?'s face in every time you see him. He gives good packs and is easy.
