>>22654571This. I feel they had like five ideas for her character and just rolled with all of them. She is scheming and mysterious, light-hearted and friendly, wacky and weird, and finally dutiful and innocent. It felt like a mess. Maybe that was what they were going for, but it didn't make the character work too well for me.
Her message of "we need to solve this, not shove the problem onto someone else (maybe)" is interesting, but the cockyness of her presentation of them was unnecessary. Also, her infatuation with the protagonist was another unneeded thing, since it was covered ad nauseum by the rival. Pokemon trope, I guess.
>>22654453>all the shallow, pretentious characters trying to look deepGod, I could not stand the Evil Team heads (I only played AS). I had heard that the story was made "less implausible" by giving the teams another drive aside from just "muh water" or "muh land", and when Archie was all about flooding I imagined that they actually went full-out apocalyptic "we need to start anew" with him. That is, until the rain started to fall and he was like "what? I didn't expect everything to be flooded? Woe is me!"
It felt even more implausible than the original.
Steven was also shockingly unispiring, I had hoped they would amp him up a bit. But at least he was consistent.
