I said no adding moves because people usually get outrageous "OH GIVE THEM SIMPLE AND QUIVER DANCE PLUS MAX-MIN SPECIAL ATTACK." on shit without reason.

Moves also are dictated by the japanese names, which is why sucker punch(surprise attack) is usable by many things that don't have fists. But most people wouldn't realize that spore is mushroom cloud which is why only mushroom pokemon can use it.

I'm not really sure what a decent ability would be. Dumping its signuature ability seems wrong, but Bulletproof just really isn't that good, the only worthwhile moves I think it blocks are Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball.

Though I must ask, what good does Serene Grace really do it? I'd say keeping Natural Cure or giving it something new entirely (some flavor clone of Tinted Lens maybe, or even just Adaptability) would be better.

Pretty sure a Technician Mega Infernape would be tons of broken fun, given how it has Mach Punch, Vacuum Wave, Nasty Plot, and Sword's Dance. And how Double Kick could stand a buff to 40 BP.

The idea behind this follows with the whole adaptation/evolution theme between predator and prey. Durant eventually adapted to Heatmor's flaming tongue and became immune to fire. Unable to burn through Durant's armour, Heatmor adds water to its arsenal. Spraying Durant with cold water after heating it up causes the armour to contract. Best way to simulate this? New move!

Changes the target's type to Fire.

Don't forget Muk gets access to Stockpile.

Muk has shitty abilities anyway.

Stench: He hardly ever outspeeds anything to flinch them
Sticky Hold: Makes him more of a Knock Off target
Poison Touch: Gives opponent a less than scary status effect.

Simple would be a boon for him.

Being slow and unable to boost gives it plenty of offensive checks, so it's balanced. Walling it isn't going to be easy, but I don't think that's ever not been true about Hydreigon.

Losing the ability Contrary but here's the plan : boost your SpA before mega evolving with 1-2 or even 3 Leaf Storm THEN spam Giga Drain with cool boosted stats with mega form.
Tinted Lens allow to ignore resistance, that are really common for grass type.

It should still work. Flash Fire only actually negates Fire-type damage, it doesn't totally stop Fire-type status moves.
Using Will o Wisp on a non-Fire type with Flash Fire will still inflict a burn after activating the ability, so a Deep Fried Flash Fire Durant would become a mono-Fire-type with an extra 50% bonus to its own Fire-type moves, of which it has none.

Two big ideas go into this. The first is that Gen I Dragonite had the highest base Attack stat of any Pokemon. The second is that Dragonite is supposed to fly fast enough to circle the globe in 16 hours, which puts its maximum long-distance speed at around mach 2. I wanted to try to bring those two together. I also wanted to see if I could make it Dragonite gets to chose from priority Aerial Ace (only slightly stronger than Extreme Speed), Roost, or Hurricane (the strongest option even with the stat difference, but inaccurate) in addition to its normal STABs and coverage moves. Unlike Talonflame or Salamence, it can't really rely solely on Flying moves for power, though, so it should be somewhat easier to deal with. And Gale Wings doesn't kick in until the turn after it Mega Evolves.

Also, it's not about min-maxing. Mkhan got only +10 SPA. Why did Gamefreak do that I wonder?

The +5 SPA is just to waste stats, since he got such a huge spe boost for being pretty bulky.

Finally, it makes perfect senes. Have you even looked at garbordor? He looks just like a fairy. Fairy/Poison is a great typing that's unique and fun and probably pretty decent. With levitate, he only has two weaknesses.

I could have tried harder on the mega's sprite but I got lazy and wanted to play more Majora's Mask 3D but here's my shot. I thought it made sense thematically and I know "NO CUSTOMS" but I felt it was pretty balanced, and you don't have to give him new moves. Doesn't boost some of his move options, either, so I kept it along Blastoise's level.

Whats wrong with special Flygon exactly? Its special movepool is pretty good and there is too many physical/mixed dragons as competition for a mega slot. Hell if base Flygon kept Trapinch's hidden ability it wouldn't even be viewed as an inferior Garchomp due to stronger Fire Blasts and Earth Powers.

I'd say minmaxing is really only when one attacking stat is reduced (eg. removing Sp. Atk from M-Raticate or Atk from M-Noivern) in order to grant more points for the other stat and bulk and/or speed.

Work Up is a good boosting move for mixed attackers tho. The problem is that they distribute that shit on things that would rather get Swords Dance or Nasty Plot. Hydregon on the other hand has 105/125 offenses and has the movepool to go mixed

It's probably Dark cause the design appears more thug like than brute like. Plus Granbull is a pretty good user of Crunch and Payback with that speed stat. Now imagine if it got STAB on those moves with Crunch being Sheer Force boosted alongside Play Rough....god damn

If I recall correctly the 108
comes from the spirit/hex that Japanese prey away during the New Year festivities with gong beats and other stuff.

Cursed Body is what would benefit bulky ghost like Dusklops and tankish ones like Spiritomb and Dusknoir.
Also perfect momentums for setting CM or using Rest.

Anyway Spiritomb is my fetish and I think I gave mine similar mega stats in past for these threads. They are like the only stats it would need to focus on.

Would get a buff in Speed, Attack, Special Attack and minor buff in its defensive stats. That thing learns lot of Electric moves and abilities for a reason, is even found in an electric phenomena cave.

Speaking of Fire attacks, while moves like Flare Blitz or Fire Blast don't make any sense on some steel and electric Pokemon, Overheat shuld really be compatible with Voltorb, Magnemite, Porygon, Klinklang and Genesect.

Speed Boost or any other former ability like Infiltrator.
It would not lose anything that it already got with it. Plus would be sometimes still able to outspeed some defensive Thunder Wave users.

Example: trap a bulky but not invested in attack user, set Mean Look and spam Curse on it with Roost and Brave Bird or just classic Taunt + anything else sets.

What Pokemon would make for a good Mega with Drizzle? I know Rain is probably still the best weather and hardly needs the buff, but it's the only weather condition that only has one non-Legendary inducer.

I was thinking maybe Ludicolo - because obviously he's the all time GOAT design - but I'm not sure what stat spread to go for.

Yeah, Ludicolo and Politoed are the only candidates that makea thematically sense, especially thanks their level up movepool, abilities and dex entries.

Someone will probably point at Vaporeon but Eeveelutions have a body related main ability as pattern, just most of the minor legendaries.

Ludicolo would probably become bulky and receive like:
+20def
+40sp.def
+20atk
+30sp.atk
-10speed

Something similar to Mega Altaria.
Its EVs yield should at least suggest a decent Sp.Def buff.

I suggested something similar in past threads like this. A little different though, the Ability is Generate and it's an Electric type Pixelate. However the x1.3 buff goes up to x2 in Sun, on top of it's Fire STAB getting boosted. Electric/Fire of course.

I thought about it getting protean because:
1-Starmie already learns camouflage abd reflect type, so it is already able to change its typing at will.
2-It has a huge movepool to abuse it

And I put No Guard as an another possible ability because:
1-Its central core (presumably the most important part of its body since it can regenerate its limbs) is literally exposed
2-It gets access to hydro pump, thunder and blizzard.

So I think they fit tematically and it can make good use of both.

Another abilities that make sense could be regenerator, natural cure and maybe magic guard/bounce
