I feel like ORAS isn't really bad, just a bit underwhelming considering how high the standards are nowadays, considering all the content that's been added to the previous remakes and Emerald's content. Doesn't help that some features from X and Y, like trainer customization, were cut too.

Not him, but the original Johto games don't have much going for them other than nostalgia. Same for Gen 1.

Plus Gen 2 introduced a lot of forgettable Pokemon, had shoddy at best level distribution, and the in-game balancing isn't all that great either.

I was never overleveled, quite the opposite.

Some Gym levels were close but so was gen 1 and 4, because you could change order.

Dificulty wise every gym leader's main was trouble (Miltank, Gengar, Poliwrath, Kingdra come to mind).

Maybe after the league the level balance was wack, but hey you could change gym order again so it's understandable.

And Red was still waay overleveled.

Online was the only good thing, but it was rampant with blatant hackmons from kids with action replays.
At least the region isn't as shit as 5th gens.

HG/SS doesn't fix it either and nobody has a problem with that. This problem is overblown to fuck and the only reason anyone cares is because Gen 3 had 60 fps battles.

Becausel the wild Pokemon levels are low as fuck? In Kanto (the fucking post-game) most Pokemon are level 2-30. The highest level is 40 in Cerulean Cave. How is that acceptable? Especially when you have to grind for Red.

It's a perfectly fine game to just jump into, but if you played Emerald before, likely you'll end up very disappointed.

Fuck that. Most of my favorite pokemon came from Gen 2. Kingrda, Typhlosion, and Slowking are all n my top 5.

Gen 2's Kanto is underwhelming and the level balance ain't so good. They're perfectly fine games otherwise though.
