This guy has probably the best defensive typing in the game right now. Only one weakness, which is not that common (psychic), immunity to EQ, cant be toxiced, resists fighting and fairy.
Would he be OU if he got recovery and had better special defense?

Also, general poison type thread I guess. GF needs to make more defensive poison types.

Pretty sure he'd be OU even if he only got a decent recovery move like Slackoff. His Sp.Def isn't really horrible, and his resistances/immunities make up for it.

I used to run Weezing a lot because it was great for countering or at least checking Mega Mawile. Resistent to fairy + Great physical bulk + access to will-o-wisp and flamethrower (and I think it can learn Fire Blast too)

It also gets pain split, which isn't precisely reliable recovery but it's something. Having something like Recover/Slack off would surely make it OU

I don't think it would be worth it. He'd gain even more resistance to fairies, yeah, but lose his fighting resistence, and fire is generally more present than psychic.

He is not supposed to be an all around wall, but a switch-in. Having no weaknesses is worth nothing if you have no resistances and also lack the stats to switch into most stuff (especially on the special side).
I liked the idea of a poison/dark mega weezing aswell initially, but I think it would be better to give it a stat boost and dont touch the typing, should he ever get a mega.

If you need a wisper, a ground immunity and a defensive wall, take weezing. Infestation + w-o-w + rest really fucks with people, in every tier.

Clear smog is good, but if you are worried about not breaking subs take sludge bomb/wave. Gunk shot is too unreliable for me, but sure, pick it if you like.

Whenever I start making a team in any tier except maybe über, I always have a Weezing in at one point - either from the start, or eventually at one point. It really works everywhere because it has a very universal roll: shutting down physical attackers.

Meh. Good distribution, but Weezing is one of these cases that would gain a lot more from just getting an evo. Or getting recovery.
If he gets a mega it should have its own niche.

Just go fully physically defensive, because that is what it does. Though you should have a dedicated special wall in your team aswell.

Then go for it. Wish/Aroma support is perfect for weezing, and he has good synergy with blissey, since he can switch into fighting attacks and spread burns in return.

I can't get enough of weezing, he simply works out on every team. He's the king of stall; I like to use him to wear down the oponent before going in the for the KO.

I like putting him on a team with Zororak, since Weezing's only weakness is Zororak's immunity.

I wanted to make a thread about this, but this thread seems relevant enough.

I fucking love stall, idk what it is about it, I find it's one of the funnest playstyles In the game, and I want to build a stall team. Anyone care to share some advice?

I really like playing doubles, but idk how viable a full stall team would be in this format. I'm sorta new to pokemon, only started playing last summer, so any help is appreciated .

If mega weezing became a thing, and had the Poison/Dark typing, I'd change the levitate ability for something else. I thought maybe give it a built in left overs, and have an ability that regenerates some HP at the end of every turn.

That said though, a weezing that doesn't float would be...odd.

I want you to know that because of this thread, I just made an NU team with Weezing and an Acrobatics/Sitrus Archeops that another Anon mentioned once and fucking destroyed. Great Pokes. The Weezing just wouldn't fucking go down.

I dream of a future where mold breaker earth power is one of the most important things to have in OU, just to combat Weezing.
I don't even like stall, but Weezing is just one of those things you throw on every team and it works.

Yes, but as you said only "a bit". As long as you switch in on the right Pokemon it isn't that much of a problem.
Also, I run Weezing with Pain Split and Protect. If the opponent is still healthy it can recover or stall.

But I guess him getting recovery would lead to a return to Psychic over Psyshock. Or just let Haxorus and Excadrill rise in usage for that mold breaker EQ.

Here's a replay with the team I just built around Weezing. Sure, it's low ladder (my main got locked on showdown) and the opponent made some retarded plays, but it generally showcases the usefulness of Weezing.

Hmm, dunno. I think I wanted to rest up with Weezing against a tricked Mew. Also I like tricking people.

I knew I could always get the SpA boost back, and that Excadrill was a full stop to his stalling Zapdos set. So I just thought about showcasing Weezing a little more.

Drapion is a really nice choice too. Only 1 weakness, has good defensive stats and decent speed, immunity to critical hits, access to knock off and toxic spikes, etc.

Unfortunately it's weak to one of the most common attack types.

I think poison/fire would be a great idea for a mega if it kept levitate. It already has a good deal of fire moves, since it's got the combustible gases theme going on so it wouldn't be too big a stretch or revamp of his movepool. Also would finally knock out another type combo GF STILL hasn't got around to.

Playstyle wise, Fire typing would be bad for one single reason: Stealthrocks. It would affect Weezing's switch-in capabilities a lot, especially since it has no reliable recovery (yet?), and switching in on moves it resists and then spreading burns is the best thing it can do right now. But sure, with Poison/Fire it would get an even better Fairy, Grass and Bug resistance, and some other resistances like Ice and Fre. But it would also get weak to Scald and Stealth Rocks, two of the most centralizing things in the meta right now.

Ultimately I would decide against the Fire typing, unless it gets Slack-Off or Recover aswell, but I guess that has to do with my switch-heavy playstyle.
