Vaporeon was my first favourite. Silver was my first main series game but I was really heavily into the anime and tcg before that.

Red was my first game, but I didn't really have a favorite until Ampharos, it was the first pokemon i remember liking. Didn't really think too much about liking certain mons on my first playthrough of Red

Adding onto this, I guess if i HAD to pick something from my first time playing, it would be Blastoise since it was my first pokemon, but now i just look at it and find it ugly and inferior to other water types.

I always liked it for its alien and somewhat offputting appearance - very large, inhuman eyes, no nose, and rarely being drawn with a visible mouth or legs in most of its early art. I don't like people drawing it SUPER KAWAII and all the waifu shit, but I still dig it.

I started playing pokemon in my late middle school years, and Sinnoh was the main region by that point. Gallade was my favourite pokemon. Its in the top five now but its been outshined by Ninetales and Absol.

I started on gen 1, and I think the first pokemon to make me think "that's fucking badass, I need to catch one of those" was kadabra. It was when I first started watching the show; one of the first episodes I saw was when Ash got his ass handed to him by Sabrina.

I've been saying this for a while now, and I even made this image to illustrate my point.

Gardevoir is supposed to be like a traditional fey or a nymph; something that's gaunt, ghostly, pale, and dangerous. Even though the Fairy type didn't exist in gen 3, I feel like that's the image Gamefreak were trying to evoke.

My very first playthrough of Red I chose it at random out of the three Eeveelutions. I still had my Thunderbolt TM and taught it to Jolteon immediately. It was fast and strong, but it didn't become my favourite team member until the E4 where it solo'd Lorelei's entire lineup without breaking a sweat, then held its own through the rest of the E4 as well.

Since then I've tried to at least have one on my in-game team in every game, even if it's not as strong competitively as it once was.
