Ok, now that this thread has somehow been around for 2 weeks (does that make this the oldest thread on /vp/ right now? Someone check to see if that’s true or not.), it’s time to start discussing how this OCT will work.
This is subject to change, but at the moment here is what we have so far.
We will go on 1st come, 1st severed when it comes to sign up. if we can only have an 8 man tournament, we pick the 1st 8. If we can do a 16 man tournament, we go with the 1st 16. If we can do a 32 man tournament, we say that is the cutoff point since we won’t get 32 people and a 64 tournament would just be too big to keep under control.
The story: Everyone is fighting in some sort of battle factory knock off. Sweet and simple, and it’s better the 1st OCT stays that way. There will be some RP between characters that will take place in the thread or chat, but that is still up in the air.
Rounds: We battle in showdown. It is a nice way to decide who moves on and stuff, but we will add in a few rules to stop this from being just an OU tournament.
Extra rules: Ok, this is where this gets a little complicated. Each player will be allowed a limited number of Pokémon to start out with, and after each round the winner will add a Pokémon from the loser’s team to his or her team. The number of Pokémon each player can start with and add to his/her team will change depending on how many people we get.
>4 people, teams start at 3, winner adds 3
>8 people, teams start at 2, winner adds 2
>16 people, teams start at 3, winner adds 1
>4 people, teams start at 2, winner adds 1
Finally, to stop this from being 100% OU, every team that a player starts with has to have some sort of theme that goes with the OC. A suffer would have Pokémon from the ocean, a magician would have some sort of magic related Pokémon and so on. Don’t be that one guy who tries to justify a miner who just so happens to have a Beedrill and a Chandelure, that is just stupid.
