Tips for catching that boss you want:
* When you hit a Pokémon, there is a chance it will look stunned, have stars spin around its head and make a distinct noise. That Pokémon is "wobbling", and there is a chance of it happening anytime a Pokemon is damaged. If you defeat a Pokémon while it's wobbling, you are guaranteed a catch.
* During a boss fight, wait for a few attacks (often 3) until the boss rests, begins to pant, and has white smoke coming off his head. That is the best time to try to make him wobble.
* The Gutsy trait increases wobble chance.
* Focus Energy increases your wobble chance for a time.
* Spacial Rend, Frost Breath and Storm Throw have an increased wobble chance.
* Endeavor does miniscule damage, and so seems to increase your chances to wobble a Pokémon (assuming it's not tied to damage dealt)
* False Swipe won't defeat a Pokémon, try it for an extra wobble chance.
* Buy the Wobbly Trees.
* Consider bringing a healing move to a boss fight
Other tips:
* Catching every Pokémon in a given area makes them more powerful and drop more P when you return to that area.
* One of the NPCs in your town will always offer to return you to the last location you were in, for a price.
* Don't feel the need to save Pokémon with traits, they drop like candy, and sometimes are useless (pic related)
* When you unlock the move tutor (by completing the "Catch the Garden Intruder" errand), you can teach a Pokémon any move you've seen prior, whether it was on that Pokémon species or not, so don't feel the need to "save" certain moves either. The cost increases with the move's star level.
