If you have the Reviver Seeds and ability to dish out damage alongside the curse, using Cofagrigus is a viable strategy. Also gets Disable, which I think helped a little.

Allies do not evolve automatically, you gotta bring them to the Tree of Life to evolve. You can always refer to ORAS learnset to check when they're going to learn a move, and if they missed it you can always bring them to Hawlucha.

Was anyone else kind of let down by the final boss theme? Defy the Legends is really simple, but it's got some nice stuff going on when you get used to it. Fight to the Finish is great and is probably what solidified this series as one of my favorites of all time. Bittercold Last Battle is really under appreciated, but I honestly think it's at least tied with FttF in terms of quality, uniqueness, and theming.

In comparison, this one just seemed kind of generic, like they weren't sure what to do with it. I guess that sort of reflects what the plot was like, but something's seriously off when I prefer the first theme to the second one.

I kind of consider Phase 2 to be on par with Fight to the Finish, mostly since while both have good melodies and a lot of whimsy to them (in a sort of climactic way), they don't feel very... driving? Like, when I think of a final boss theme, I think of Zeromus, or Lavos. Bittercold Last Battle is the only final boss theme in PMD that I think had a fast-enough beat to really make me feel that same sort of blood-pumping, driving...-ness. I've never played Gates but the second Bittercold song is probably my favorite final boss theme of the four.

Yeah, Bittercold was one which really confused me when I first heard it, but after listening to it for a little while it really grew on me. Probably the only reason it's not outright beating FttF for me is nostalgia from Sky and the fact that I haven't played Gates.

I know what you mean by the whimsy and the beat, though. I think the percussion in Bittercold really helped give it that pounding feeling.

How the fuck do I beat Dark Matter's second phase?

I only have two reviver seeds at my last save and there's no way to go back and get more. All his attacks kill me in one hit 75% of the time and if they don't they leave me with 1 or 2 hp

Water Gun is two tiles. If it's not veering toward the center of a large enemy, you aren't close enough.

You might wanna level yourself up before getting into the epilogue dungeons, since you go solo and can't get help without bringing Hoopa's lamp with you.

Just do missions, use all three motivated mons to get exp, and you should be up and running once you get to level 35+

There's only 3 post-game plot dungeons. All of them you're required to go alone.

I did them all at level 25 by using Orbs and Wands. They're not hard or very long, just avoid fights at all costs.

So I just completed the game and the Epilogue tonight. I always get so depressed because I know that's all I've seen of the story, and I get so attached to the characters. One thing that really bugs me is that your partner pretty much only has one line afterwards "It's another fine day for an expedition, <name>!", not even any flavor text.

Also there's no need to rush finishing the post story either, it's nice to have something to jump on and play every once in a while.

IRC is a much better place for it than an imageboard, really, but as soon as you get IRC you get admins and then you get corruption and nobody has fun. I used to play on a very low-key IRC, not for Pokemon, but still, RP, and that only had like 4 or so people a day and no admin, and we had a fuckton of fun. My recommendation is not to seek the groups but rather get a few people and develop relationships with them so you are all friends and won't bitch at eachother if something goes wrong in an RP or something. I'd be down for that sort of thing if nobody would condemn me for wanting to play a Riolu or Lucario.

The little visual indicator doesn't really gel with what the Tutorial blurb was saying about the move upgrading to I/II/III versions, but that may just be cause it's so tiny. And Is there a soft\hard cap? Do some moves benefit from growth more than others? Beat my first level 1 dungeon in SMD with a team of Drifblim/Drapion/Crawdaunt.

Crawdaunt doesn't get many moves, don't take it. Drapion at least gets Pin Missile, and the old strategy for Drifblim still manages to work, if a little nerfed due to weaker default attacks that don't hit twice anymore. Also less desirable now due to Emeras.

I have Rollout/Powerup Punch/Pin Missile/Vine Whip.

Through the main story i had more or less the same moveset, but replace Powerup Punch with Bite. As for Fennekin, that moveset seems fine for now, but I didn't use one.

my advice is, for your early game you should spam Rollout and Pin missile as much as possible.
chespin starts rather slow and you will get lots of miss, but mid-late game he's a walking oneshot massacre with full accuracy multihit attacks and buffs from power-up punch and bulk-up
i'd say that aside from Charizard who's straight out broken, Chesnaught is a really good and satisfying starter to play with because you will never regret maximizing those two moves

Galvantula is at the end of a chain which you'll probably start at with Aerodactyl after defeating Aero for someone else.

Aerodactyl -> Sandile -> Burmy -> Galvantula

I think Joltik is via Rhyperior -> Gallade -> Roserade -> Ledian -> Joltik, but you might also be able to connect with Joltik by finding Ariados as a wanderer
