Oh goodie, another mon with 6 moves, only 4 of which are good. You'll want Sunny Day because of Chlorophyll, and the ideal moveset is Mega Drain/Leaf Blade/Leaf Storm/Sunny Day. With these moves, Bellossom becomes very powerful in the sun, using Leaf Storm in the sun is sure to kill anything. Only has grass moves without TM's, but in the sun that doesn't matter. A very good choice if you can handle resetting.

Hone Claws? No rerolling for moves? Very good starting moves and ability, but you have nothing to attack Ghosts with until level 8 when it gets Wing Attack. Unburden means you can't use hold items, but that frees up the ability to use every emera on yourself for a stat boost. Hone Claws activates twice per use, a huge plus. Easy to run with, easy to use apart from ghosts, you can make things happen with this pokemon. I could have gone much further if it wasn't for that and the Anger Point Primeape a floor prior eating up my only reviver seed.

If it makes you feel good, i made good things happen in theTemple Remains with Zard/Groudon/Cherrim. Granted i had a rainbow Solarbeam TM so everyone spammed it

If you got time, try Medicham. It looks like it levels up pretty fast compared to other mons and has access to Confusion + Zen Headbutt + three elemental punches. Of course, that's not as shiny as Chlorophyll Bello, but eh.

Also Ampharos for sexual is a joke. Mostly.I mean if they guy invited you to to his bed I sure as hell would do it.

You find a specific Emera called the "Awakening Emera."

Equipping it allows you to Mega Evolve temporarily for any Pokemon that can do it. At the end of its phase, however, your mega Pokemon will go on a rampage and might damage your teammates, so have your teammates on standby from a distance before reverting back to your normal form.

Charizard anon, I'm sorry to say this, but I don't have the patience right now to reroll for moves any more. With 9 rerollable moves, i want Heat Wave/Dragon Claw/Shadow Claw/Air Slash. I'd settle for Flare Blitz being in there in place of say, Air Slash, though. I have made a note to myself to test it out again in the future.

8 rerollable moves, have fun! The Fighting type member of Team Charm isn't too special. Good starting moves should you care to reset, but Pure Power only activates sometimes. Low stats, needing to reroll, and a mediocre ability that rarely kicks in makes this a bad choice.

Next up? I'm not going to reroll Volcorona right now, thats fourteen damn moves.

You aren't going to survive the game without abusing wands/orbs anon, best learn how to use them. Spikes are super useful if you have a bunch of them + pierce loop.

Good starting moves, decent starting stats with good Attack. Natural Recovery is a neat thing to have, and the typing renders some pokemon helpless against you. Okay, but not the best.

I have a very high tolerance for horseshit, just look at that ZIS guide i did. Well, it's more the fact that I like the idea of heading in with a random mon, and seeing how it plays.

Personally I like ZIS more, though. 99 floors, but there are more pokemon that are usable, and more items. I might do another run in that place later tonight actually, another shot at getting that Tight Belt.

Literally nothing i could fucking do. No possible way to know this would have happened

5 starting moves, reroll until you don't get Leer. Good start stats, gets Extrasensory and the piercing long range Hydro Pump. You can use Tailwind to run away from fights, too. Not a bad choice. I only got this far due to Trap Proof+Mobility+Tailwind allowing me to run away

Now when you finish a mission you befriend whoever gave it to you, and you can take them on missions. You can recruit one of every Pokemon, including one of every stage of a family, with multiples of certain Pokemon to cover gender differences or form changes (like all the Unown)

Upsides are recruiting is much more satisfying and there's way more potential to get actually useful recruits rather than a million Zigzagoons. Downsides are only one of each Pokemon and no random missions, meaning only a finite number of jobs

If by legit any you mean legendary, you can. You get missions from them to either visit them by beating a hard dungeon or battle them, and when you do you recruit them. It's nice because you only have to meet or beat them once and you're guaranteed to recruit them, rather than having to fight them twenty times with every recruitment bonus possible in the earlier games

Amp is one of my favorite pokemon, by far. Even before the game came out.

It gets Discharge which just destroys monster houses, it gets Focus Blast which is great once leveled up, and it can mega evolve.

Wooper's there for being my favorite pokemon, not to mention Earth Power is basically Earthquake but better

You'll be doing the bulk of the fighting in the game, so buff yourself up. Save gummis until the Cafe opens up, Gummi drinks there always buff stats. But, buff your partner as well, you can't totally neglect them.

I once got a 6IV Victini with both Reshiram and Zekrom's custom moves, so it's not all bad. More often you'll get breeding rejects but they usually have some combination of decent IVs, a good nature, or a good ability

Fairly easy to do, even if you're the most casual of casuals, in Gen XI games (in fact, that's sometimes cited as a legitimate complaint for some people). Breeding is exceedingly easy thanks to easy access to wild perfect IV mons, and unbreedables (like Riolu and legendaries) being guaranteed to have 3 perfect IVs. Training is also fast and efficient thanks to hordes or Super Training.

That's what I've had to do a few times in the game. Sometimes you just get bad luck. Sometimes you get lucky and get a few floors where your first room has the stairs. Sometimes you find some great emeras that help you survive like distance dodge.

I think what helped me was that I had a bunch of wands (including guiding wands) that let me avoid fighting. I'm not sure on the exact range of wands, but they will hit enemies from far away.

If you think you can't make it without more reviver seeds then you can try going to pelipper island and going to a dungeon that has them on the ground.

I'm not a mystery dungeon expert, but I'm not sure if missing out on psybeam is that huge of a loss. You already have heat wave and flame thrower for long range, and I was under the impression that double kick and dual chop (move tutor move for Blaziken) were pretty good moves since they hit twice.

It's your game and your time though, so if you're really unhappy then you can restart. I wouldn't, but that's because I'm more interested in using other Pokemon over my partner.

That one dude in one of the previous threads that posted the 4 Ledyba sleeping together in room, I found em' myself about a few hours ago in the Thorny Shadow Path.

Okay guys, I just passed the credits after beating
Dark matter and I'm given a hard dungeon to go in where I have to venture alone, looking for a Xatu. How am I supposed to beat this? I'm around level 28 at this point with my main pokemon. I feel like I may be under leveled, or am I actually able to control my evolution?

You're actually above average at that point, since most people finish at 25.

Anyways, level doesn't exactly dictate whether you'd do good in PMSD, so you're better off roiding yourself with Calciums are Carbos to patch up your Special Attack and Speed.

Also, if you find yourself in a bind, bring Hoopa's lamp with you so he can help you out. Teach him Psybeam and replace Ally Switch at Hawlucha's, though, and try not to let Hoopa take too many hits.

Shit, I didn't think Sacred Ruins was that hard.

Noivern's great in there with Boomburst (and the ability to flee upon water), but I found a fucking monster house on floor 11 and got cornered in a dead end.

I just took what the game gave me to attempt to get through. I made mad dashes for the stairs and grabbed what I could, and if attacked, ran away into the nearest river to wait if I couldn't take it down.

I keep finding some apples and elixers though, and Payback emeras are god here.

What I love about this game is there's no limit to the amount of vitamins you can use and thus any pokemon that's shitty in the main games can become unstoppable in this game.

I died to an Amoongus on floor 25. I didn't think it'd be able to take an entire Thrash at the amount of health it had left.

Discharge/Zap Cannon/Thrash/Coil worked very well, but mainly because I found emera such as Status Mirror and Confusion Guard. Discharge and Zap Cannon are pretty much necessary, but you can be flexible with the other 2 moves because there are 10 it can start with.

Probably not the best, but still very good

Two questions: dos anyone just run with 4 attack moves most of the time, outside of a few exceptions like home claws or agility or some of the better buffs? I find debuffs and most of the floor/weather changers a total waste of time. And having 4 attacks means you're levelling 4 attacks.

Other question: are the rainbow/infinite use TMs the same as the single use ones? Or are they a totally separate set of moves?

It depends. Weather can be really good, depending on the team, and sun is great with a Cherrim.

Good to know on the TMs. Seeing a single use TM for Cut though is super jarring.

I figure weather moves are a lot more important later on, and depending on your team and dungeon, right now I'm still mostly running the "whoever is motivated" team. Still wish there was a faster way to level specific Pokemon, though.

Also are there any super-outstanding abilities or Pokemon of note? Blaze on my starter is super underwhelming and I may just shelve him ( as much as I can )

Good abilities? One stands above all others when you don't take hold items into account. Unburden. This glorious ability makes you use moves TWICE, but use only 1PP, effectively doubling your offensive abilities and PP. Hawlucha can use this and Hone Claws to get +2 attack and accuracy off one use, and Drifblim can use it to get insta-use Phantom Forces and get +4 evasion from one use of Minimize.

Cherrim is actually insane utility and buff. Getting Synthesis which is basically a party full heal in sunlight, Sunny Day in general, and Helping Hand to molest legendaries

Not using emera looplets also frees up the emeras themselves to be used on yourself. It might be worth keeping a Looplet on hand with some set in them, though, especially if you got something like PP restore.

Died floor 14 to Future Sight. I was an idiot and thought i could KO the mon before it activated.

Snow Warning makes it hail on every floor, a good thing for you, being an Ice type. If you magically found a Blizzard TM, it would never miss. Learns some okay moves, Abomasnow's got some range to work with. Sadly the abundance of pokemon that resist both types lowers the usefulness of this pokemon. Finding the right TM's is important, but this mon isn't really worth your time, as Hail is a bad weather.

I'm going to give Hippowdon a shot.

Died floor 1, started in a room with one exit, with a tiny hallway that lead into a Monster House. With literally only one Blast Seed, I couldn't do anything. I'd try again, but it's late.

Seven starting moves, you'll want Bite and the elemental fangs. Starts a sandstorm on every floor, which can help whittle down the enemies you'll face throughout the floors.

I buy all throwing items i can and pick them up and save them in dungeons when possible. Trading 100=1 gold bar. It's little but can add up. For gold bars, i just go over sparkles when i find them, and I take the Excavation Looplet in with me whenever i go rob Kecleon Shops in Super Apple Forest. You can usually get a vitamin or two and a couple gold bars from the trip. Not ideal, but if you're going into a dungeon, may as well try for more gold bars

So how does everyone decide on a core team of three? I mean, I couldn't imagine farming vitamins for more than that. I was thinking either my starter charmander, aggron, and either sandshrew or cubone. I'm just worried about wasting vitamins.

Though if I wanted to stick to a 3 man team I'd just use AWD and beef them up instead

Im going to assume its a bug. But I had 4 Lucha tokens. Went in to have some pokemon remember better moves. As long as I didn't back out of the pokemon selection list I could continue to make different pokemon remember moves as much as I wished. So far I've given pokemon 24 moves.

I'm starting to think this dungeon generates things to go against you, because I fought a lot of Ralts and Clefa when I tried using Noivern and Salamence.
Added bonus, my fleeing tactics over water are failing now due to random Alomomola and Mismagius spawning on the first few floors.

Is the substitute doll used anywhere in game. I'm curious as to why it has a mugshot.

On a side note. I'm a little more than 20% done organizing all the portraits for both my personal use and for the Spriters Resource.
I'm trying to think how to organize the sheets for the site. I was thinking along the lines of having
>1st evo starters
>2nd&3rd evo starters
>important NPCs
>gen 1/2/3/4/5/6 pokemon
>placeholder/leftover portraits

Thoughts?

Maybe if you talk to one of your allies using Sub while in a dungeon? I'm personally more baffled at the presence of Zen Mode here since Hidden Abilities are not a thing.

Also, I happen to be organizing them myself as well. I'm only less than 10% of all the portraits though. Are you going to put them all in one sheet? Don't plan on putting mine up in Spriters Resource, I'm kinda just cropping the black part and sorting them.

Substitute works differently as far as i remember... haven't actually used it though. might try just to see what it does.
curiously, the substitute doll has its own entry in the pokemon data table as well as its own model.

i would sort out the portraits myself but i'm too lazy to do it. the least i could do was weed out all the duplicates. there was like 20 Arceus portraits and all of them are exactly the same (i did a byte-by-byte comparison)

Gates to Infinity's sprite sheet was uploaded as-is though, 64x64 with text and black parts so i think that could be left as-is as well.

Anyone else really let down with the story? Pacing was fucking terrible, and the last 8th or so of the game was convoluted to hell and back. Shyamalan would have creamed himself at the goodbye scene. Better than Rescue team's bare bones story, but it's still much weaker than the story in Explorers and Gates.

Gameplay is the best in the series however.
