Seems like it depends on which Pokemon you just connected with, since they didn't pop up in dungeons I visited previous many times until I connected with mons they were personally connected with.

After you've done all the rescue/item recovery missions, the Connection Orb will tell you where wandering Pokemon are, so you shouldn't be in a rush to find em.

I'm in the water cave and I'm out of revivers and shit. they can easilly snipe me from 4-5 tiles away and kill me in one hit because I fucked up and I picked Torchic. I don't even like this pokemon. Also, I'm raising Attack instead of Special Attack. That was a mistake.

Is there anything I can do? I don't think I can beat this level. It's my first time playing MD.

Go to Pelliper Island and grab a few Reviver Seeds. Also, any experience gotten there goes to your main pokemon as well.

There IS a way to grind in this, but it's not in the main game.

There are a lot of anons that need help, be it rescues, tips, or strategies. Keeping one thread with all this info seems like the better option to me, especially since if you search "mystery dungeon" in the catalog, you'll get this. Besides, some anons might even want to try the older games, which are right in the OP.

I believe I beat Purity Forest on my first playthrough as my main character,which was charizard. I found 2 ginsengs and put them both on heat wave. How do I get Dusknoir in SMD?

Might be Sacred Ruins. The sheer amount of horseshit outdoes everything. From weaker default attacks, to the fucking random evolved pokemon that are quadruple your strength, to the quicker hunger draining, there's WAY more that can go wrong, especially now that base power matters

connect to either Grovyle or Sableye. for Grovyle you need to connect with Mesprit (or maybe the Lake trio), Sableye goes through a chain... somewhere like Ledyba - Mime Jr. - Sudowoodo - Aipom - Drifloon - Sableye. (Whismur also connects to Sudowoodo)

this connection mapping guide thingy really needs to be done.

Linked dual Frustration deals with nearly anything. The few Petrify Orbs i found saved me at the end. I can't guarantee I'll be able to do this again, so make the next 10 floors COUNT!

Hey so my googology has failed me so I guess I'll ask this here.

How does recruiting other Pokémon work in these games? I've always been mildly interesting in the MD games but I don't want to be stuck with two NFE starters for the whole thing.

Basically what I'm asking is can I have teams consisting of non-starter Pokémon? And do they make you beat the game first to evolve anything?

You must beat the story to evolve. However, evolution has very little effect on stats. You just get a flat +10 HP and +5 to all stats upon evolution, that's it. So it really only matters if you want movesets.

Recruitment is based on level, the higher it is, the more chance you have of recruiting, You can have teams consisting of any pokemon you want, so if you don't want to use your starters ever again after the story, you can, at least in RT and Sky and Gates.

Beat Destiny Tower in EoS once with Scizor. Learning Bullet Punch at level 2 and Technician boosted Struggle got me through, oddly enough. The Space Globe or whatever it was didn't even feel worth it.

Also, how do I get Garchomp in Super? Can you get a male and female one?

In the older MD games, recruiting is basically random. You can increase likelihood through leveling and certain items, but random is still random.

In the newest one, recruiting is basically the whole point of the quests. Completing quests, random events, talking to Pokemon, etc. recruits Pokemon into your party.

You can absolutely make a team of non-starter Pokemon. Your starter pair are only mandatory for the story. Anything else is free game.

They do make you beat the game to evolve your bros, but evolution in this game is largely aesthetic (and for certain moves/abilities).

Shuckle and Slaking, assuming Sky. Shuckle loses hunger faster than any other pokemon due to Gluttony, and Slaking has a hindering ability in a game when any pokemon can have the same max stats

One last question; you both mentioned the only point of evolving is for moveset purposes...where do I see the SMD move sets? Is there a strategy website for this?

Really if it has a bad ability, it's a bad pokemon. Also, Onix, Wailord, and really all 4 star size pokemon are bad. They have no benefit to having in RT and Explorers, and they reduce the amount of mons you can take with

I read a GameFAQs guide that said some postgame areas like the seven instrument dungeons have tons of stuff like gummis and vitamins in the walls. I'll test them out if my team is ever strong enough to deal with enemies on their own. Levelling is so slow.

Make a fairly high - level team of characters who can stand their ground on their own.
Give each of them a Mobile Scarf
Set their tactics to "You go the other way"
Stand in place on each dungeon floor for a long time
It helps if you set the options for fast running, and also for the camera not looking at off-screen battles.

Some early dungeons don't have any hidden items, others only have coins, but some end game dungeons (IIRC, the legendary instrument dungeons) have all kinds of cool stuff hidden in the walls like gummis, vitamins, joy seeds, lost loots, and link boxes. And since your teammates don't have hunger, you're only limited by your own hunger management and, of course, the wind.

Screech is fucking CRIPPLING in RT and Sky. You could be level 100 and taking 1 damage from even Kecleon in RT, and one screech will make it start hitting for fucking 70 damage. That's a disgusting leap in damage, and even Cosmic Power won't help you. I tried using it with Jirachi while I was recruiting Kecleon, and I got "Jirachi's Defense can't go higher!"

So, Screech works totally outside the normal modifiers, since a defense up has no effect on it.

Current moveset is

Water Pulse/Icebeam/Blizzard/Dark pulse

It's going to be learning hydro pump really soon. Should I replace any moves?

Feeling attatched to this moveset because it has yet to dissapoint me

Waterpulse hits average of 150
Ice Beam rarely misses
Blizzard can damage the whole room
Dark Pulse is there just incase I fight something that resists the other moves.

All you get is new typing and new moves; stats remain the same regardless of what evolution you are, for all Pokemon.
I think Greninja and Braixen look more aesthetically pleasing, so I went and evolved my starters.

I evolved my Riolu in Sky, and regretted it immensely. Lucario waddles around with his legs spride wide apart as though he's been kicked in the nuts.

In Super, at least the evolved forms of starters have various emotion portraits, but it's still pretty pointless. You lose your sleeping animation like in Explorers.

And yes, Jirachi should be a cakewalk compared to this, especially considering I've beaten Wish Cave several times already. The only reason I don't have Jirachi yet is because I always wished for stuff when I reached the bottom.

That being said, I still have Mew to recruit as well. That's gonna be a bitch for sure. It won't be difficult, just extremely time-consuming.

Mew's not too bad, especially when you dive in with the secondary goal of treasure hunting. The items in the wall are great, you got joy seeds, sitrus berries, ginsengs, all that stuff. Even if you don't get Mew, you'll likely leave with higher HP.

Be sure you're at least level 91+ for Mew, and maybe max IQ if you aren't already.

I'm prepared in that respect, my starter Blaziken is lvl 100 and has max IQ. He one shots everything (with the exception of certain legendaries), with his basic attack. It's also worth mentioning that I have a friend bow and like 20 xray specs so I'm certainly well prepared. Oh, and the tight belt I just recently received.

Sky, they were far more powerful, but you could Pure Seed away.

Super, 3 spawn near the stairs, so your best bet is to just put a mon on the stairs and let the mon that stole die and not revive.Messy, but it works

It would be more fair if the default did 5 damage OR half your level in damage, whatever was higher. This means it's usable in level 5 dungeons, and not overpowered for real dungeons, allowing you to finish an enemy off

Yeah, as soon as I could evolve them I did.

Basically, the reasons to evolve in this game are:

1. You get a new typing that you want from evolving.
2. You learn more/better moves once you evolve.
3. You like the mid-stage/final stage more.

RT and Sky makes me remember how much I miss Wide Slash. Vacuum-Cut was hot garbage but Wide Slash was great, perfect for a 4th move should a pokemon be in need of one. It even helps with Monster Houses, even if it's not as good as Tbolt

The only catch? You know how enemies in Gti and Super can evolve if they defeat your team member? Imagine that, but appearing as early as second dungeon. Reviver Seed won't help.

Also, some Pokémon are event only and I don't know how to activate these events (they're all Legendaries, if I recall correctly, though.) I tried looking into Serebii, but all they give is the code to activate the event. Which I don't know where to put.

The games are quite light and Dolphin properly detects game so you can connect all 3 into one save.

Well, installing it on your Wii using a .wad or playing it in an emulator isn't that hard. The gameplay is almost the same as Sky with some minor differences and I'd say improvements, after you get past the first few dungeons. The game is basically what you'd expect from the postgame. Its story, music and graphics aren't as good as every other game, but I'd say it's one of the best Wiiware games.
I've played it more than usual yesterday and it wasn't that bad.
It's funny to think about it, GtI is basically missing on the gameplay, even if it adds some new interesting stuff to it, while gameplay is the only thing Adventure Squad has.

It seems the game took versions to extreme, as I don't think any Pokémon appears in more than one version, other than the ones you can unlock with code.

The fifth dungeon, lake, is a rather big difficulty spike. It seems Monster Houses spawn here, and your Pokémon Tower will probably be detowered by weather. Which, at least in Blazing, can be ANYTHING.

Well, Azurill was handy dandy. Huge Power Slam is power.

Note that it seems that evolution for you is now checked for upon level-up, as there's no evo place.

Considering how the Towers work (you can put only two Pokemon of the same size in a row), it's actually a bit useful now.

Is there any particular difference between Explorers and Rescue Team level-ups? Went into Purity Forest twice with a Kecleon, did pretty well all things considered, but the guide says it's shit. Did so without Warp Scarves either, just went straight level-ups.

Got to 91 on the first attempt because an Aerodactyl confused me at a Kecleon shop and I was forced to steal an item and couldn't compete with the swarm, got Celebi the next.

This is purely theoretical, but I've been looking at Chandelure's moveset, and it has Hex, Flame Burst, Confuse Ray, Pain Split, and Smog. Get rid of Smog, and you have an ideal moveset. Flame Burst for range, Confuse Ray and Hex for confusion + big damage, Pain Split for emergency healing.

Haven't tried it out yet, but it could be a nice combo. No Heat Wave for room hitting damage though.

No real place to grind these specifically. Oran berries and guiding wands can be sold at shops, so if you're hungry for em you can check all 5 town shops to see if they're listed.

If you haven't used them already, there are one-time passwords that will give you stacks of each. Up to 80 oran berries, 4 life seeds, and 40 guiding wands.

Holy shit I need to try that. Only problem is my mons arent maxxed yet so its me (Braixen), Raichu (PC), and Cinccino, With PC and MC at 40 and Cinccino at 46. Once I have them maxxed I'll work on leveling and maxxing out some other mons for good combos.

Lots of people aren't using alliance right. It's the most OP mechanic in the game if used right. You don't have to waste multiple slots on a mon just to make something work, spread that shit out.

Sunny Day > Solarbeam > Solarbeam.
Anything that makes you lose stats after using it > Haze

Preset teams you can preset specific combos for specific dungeons/bosses. Find the best ones and just blow shit up.

For the part in Foreboding Forest, it displays move's accuracy and the random value used for the accuracy check.
Offensive moves also show the Pokémon's Attack and Defence stat stages.
