Gengar has it's flaws, but they've been a staple of mine since the start. I remember lamenting the lack of a link cable so I'd never have one, but then meeting someone during a summer day care thing when I was young and I was thrilled to be able to have trade evolutions. Then when I got Pokemon stadium and two transfer packs I was even more excited because now I could evolve them on my own terms.

Good:
Fire type and beast fighting type moves in one package
Double Kick and Fire type move of your choice destroys almost anything.
Bad:
Inherently weak against water, flying, psychic and ground I guess.
But when you're destroying everything that isn't weak to fire with fighting moves it really doesn't matter.
Makes faggots cry because of how good it is and got banned from tournaments apparently

The new typing actually is pretty cool, but it forces fridge rotom to have to deal with Ice-typing and fan rotom is completely outclassed by every Elec/Fly that isn't Emolga.

The typing change wasn't a bad thing at all, but it benefited some forms more than others.
