>>25249159Yeah, and they are pretty nice, but they're so damn limited is the issue. You can only go to a few locations, you can't really walk around, and there honestly isn't too much you can do to interact. I like them for what they are, but I'm a selfish fuck and I dream of what could be.
A comfy game with the exploration and battling intact, where you can bake pokepuffs with your Vulpix in your own customizable house, where you can go to a local Poke-Park and let your mons out for games of catch or whatever, where you can go swimming in a river or something, just-- a world that you can experience I guess. I know it's not LIKELY to happen in any sense, but can you imagine something like that with VR tech? I could die happy.
>>25247838I'm with you anon. I love games that let you take various paths to a general goal, and having places to explore as a detour from the plot just warms my heart. Like Turnback Cave in Gen 4 -- it had some relevance but going in there was optional. Just imagine walking through the woods, taking a side-path, and coming into a clearing that has no purpose other than to provide atmosphere. Maybe there's a pool there, with Deerling drinking before being startled off. Just the little touches mean so much.
My friend and I as a kid would talk about our dreams for the games, where you could walk up steps in mountains to cross rickety bridges and be by yourself in the wilderness for days with just your Pokemon, only to finally reach the next town and relax before taking on the gym. In our heads this was in like, anime level VR where you could go completely into the game, but even something approximating that would be just indescribably incredible. It's night-impossible that a game like that will ever be made, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
