Except with Red, ANY time the player character from Kanto is referenced, it is always Red. Never the girl. The girl has never even been shown as the generic childhood friend like May/Brendan or Dawn/Lucas.
This is why nobody knows her actual name, people cycle through like 4 fucking names, but none of them are real because she literally never appears in the games, unless you're specifically playing as her, which we know is non-canon because of all of Red's appearances and references in HG/SS and B2/W2.
The closest she gets to being canon, is being Red in a crossdressing phase.
