>>26979912I'm not talking about as a pokemon, since megas don't seem to be restricted by normal pokemon's design philosophies., I'm talking about as a design in general; the half open angry eyes, "tattered" head appendages flowing behind the head, and jagged but stream-like black patterns help solidify it's impression of "aggressive serenity", which is by-and-large the idea behind controlling the body's chakra for martial purposes, from both a historical and contemporary perspective. The spikes are probably because the original design's power seemed questionable, in a lot of ways, and they are situated at the end of the designs flow-lines, which also resemble the ideas of releasing chi/chakra/aura through specific points (although that is not to say more spikes are always permitable in a design). They also did some shit to just make the design look better in general, like the frilled fur collar which downplays the largeness of the head without changing the proportions too much. less generic tail, and shoulder "collars"
It's pretty fucking good anon. Hell, the only problem I have with it is that the back of the head doesn't flow into the dreads well enough. It fulfills the Mega evolution's goals of just being refinements of the prior forms functionality without being constricted by the 'mon's initial IRL inspirations (or lack thereof) to a T.
