I live in south texas....the rural areas are definitely scarce but when you get to the edge of town and hit up the farmland (ie Grass as far as the eye an see, no trees) ponyta and vulpix become more common.

Growlithe is also pretty common in the bigger cities/rocky areas hanging among all the cubone/sandshrew

I just replied to this post in the previous thread, but anon from who-knows-how-long-ago, fire types seem to be pretty sparse where I am, too. I'm on Hawaii and I see the occasional Growlithe in the neighborhood, and rarely I saw Vulpix pop up (I've only caught one, though). Charmander seems exceedingly rare, too.

Makes me grumpy. Ninetales is my favorite Pokemon, and who knows how long it's going to take to get one.

I might go driving around the north shore, since that's more of the farm-y rural country areas. Not sure if I'll find anything else, but it might be worth a shot. I guess that's one of the struggles with living on a small island; there's no real proper countryside or anything so most of the island seems pretty homogeneous.

Thing is, no matter how you try to defend it, it still enters the servers and extracts data, not only in ways not intended but also creates even more traffic in servers they are trying to keep from burning and people are already trying to get profit from apps and stuff (this is probably what actually pissed them off)

Eitehr way, if the tracking feature in the fucking agmes is not working they shouldn't even be trying to take down other stuff that actually works

I dunno if I'd go that far, since I've filled up a decent amount of the Pokedex already just by catching, evolving, and a little bit of luck (plus the game came out while I was out of state so I caught a bunch of stuff while on a roadtrip), but I can imagine things getting pretty bland after a while.

I think the real problem is simply that there aren't any particular nests here. I think there's one, on Maui? But Oahu is the most populated island, and nobody's going to buy a puddlejumper plane ticket just to catch Pokemon, I don't think.

Combined with the issues with the tracker, I haven't really been playing it much recently. I went out to the mall today and walked around, but that's about it.

Well, the footprints originally actually worked and would count down back on initial release. This helped you know how close you were to specific Pokemon, which helped you hunt them down. It was a good feature, one that was smart, made sense, and fit right in with the core concept.

Then it broke, and Pokemon were always displayed as being as far away as possible. This made it impossible to accurately track Pokemon, hence why third party websites popped up to fill the void. Now that the footprint tracker is removed, and now that the third party websites have been taken down, everyone is basicaly SoL. Doesn't help that the radar often displays Pokemon that have despawned.

This is essentially the issue as far as I can tell. It's not just the incompetence of the company, it's the fact that they've basically maintained complete radio-silence for the entire duration of the game so far. Not a peep out of them, even when they roll out what's supposed to be a major patch that ends up removing broken things rather than fixing them (and did anyone else on iOS lose the Battery Saver option?). I've never seen a company this tight-lipped.

I save up a few hundred candies and a couple dozen pokemon of weedles, pidgeys and rattatas. Pop a lucky egg and evolve 60-70 of them as fast as you can. I just got 69k XP in 30 minutes. Requires some decent farming to set up, but you're getting xp for that, too.

Since the update I've traveled maybe 20 miles at a crawl seeing what pops up and I'm not completely sure but I think the spawn rates are down a little bit. Its weird but I haven't seen but ONE uncommon since the update, and even the pidgeys and weedles aren't as omnipresent as they used to be. Catching definitely seems a bit harder as well.

So, Niantic shifted all these down 1-2 Pokedex numbers. For example, a Pikachu nest would now be full of Ekans.

Bulbasaur now has twice as many nests, because he has his own and the old Charmander ones. Dratini got fucked and has no nests because nothing shifted down to it.

You know that gets really, really old after two weeks of nothing but pidgeys and rattatas with the occasional other common spawn. Maybe if Niantic hadn't utterly fucked up their spawning/tracking system so badly, people wouldn't have been using pokevision?

As it is now, unless you live in a metropolis, unless you bot or unless you spoof, this game is virtually unplayable. Pokemon Go is already pretty much dead here. Pokevision was its only saving grace while people waited for Niantic to fix the three step bug, so you could actually catch something that wasn't a pidgey or rattata, either to fill your pokedex ot to compete with all the level 30+ spoofers and botters who've got gyms stacked with dragonites and snorlaxes..

Another interesting thing about Niantic's shitty track record of being a dev is that Pokemon GO is not even their second game by plan. They actually had another game tie-in with a book series that was supposed to use the Niantic AR Geo Database (Ingress locations) and expand upon 12 or so teems in a 3D environment.

The game was slated to release last year but with no update on development or the people involved in the book series itself who commissioned the game through Niantic it is pretty much said to be a dead and forgotten project.

By the time Niantic announced their partnership with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company for Pokemon GO it seemed more than likely that the game was dead before it was ever beta tested.

They need to fix the tracking system, the nearby list is all wrong.
Like everyone else, scanning made this game more playable. Especially for those living in quieter areas trying to compete with botters and spoofers.
It's frustrating that so many Pokémon I haven't caught show up on the radar but I can't track the darn things.

For me the constant mishandling of the game is what drove me to finally just bot. I can't track the Pokemon. the servers are so unstable I can't catch them half the time. Meanwhile people spoofing in Australia have locked down all the gyms so no 'legit' player getting assfucked by Niantic's 'fixes' can hope of competeing.

I cannot play the game as intended. I put in a lot of fucking effort to, but between nerfing the spawn rates in my already tiny shitty ass town with 3 Pokestops and the constant crashes it's just not worth it to play legit anymore.

I don't care if I get banned for just trying to stay on an even playing field with the rampant botting. The game was fun and now it isn't, and it was Niantic, not the bots, that made it that way first. I just want to be able to get my 10 free good goy coins per day at the gym, fuck actually exploring, being social, or having fun since that's clearly not what these piss drinking chucklefucks want people to do.

Something worked at launch but stopped working after an update. Rather than fix it, the feature was removed.

Users find a way around the broken feature with a way to streamline the process and are told that they are now playing the game in a way the devs didn't intend. So, the devs start getting pissy and tell the players to stop. They go as far as C&D'ing the tools the player base use to fix what the devs couldn't.

Essentially Niantic is telling the users that they're having fun incorrectly. That's bullshit.

Which is by all means common to Niantic's mindset when it comes to the userbase.

Hell, half the time they will not even tell you that you were banned from Ingress, and when they do tell you (via an email) they do not go into any detail as to what you did wrong let alone have the means to fight the ban.

Even better is that Niantic has been well known to ban legit players from Ingress because of their faulty auto banning algorithm that creates more false positives than actually stamping out bots/spoofers.

I cannot wait to see the absolute shitstorm when Niantic tries to pull that shit with GO. Nintendo will end up ordering the CEO of Niantic to commit seppuku in front of all the playerbase and investors in order to save face.

They cut off the footprint system already and they are pushing against devs that are making the game actually playable. They are already in the shit with audiences right now, and it will get worse before it gets any better.

Also while Ingress did not make nearly as much as GO did, Niantic will still feel responsible in wanting to get rid of bots/spoofers as "they are ruining the spirit of the game". Doing so will create a larger wave of shit to hit the fan.

It did work at release. Rumor is that they intentionally disabled it to reduce stress on the servers. They just took the extra step and removed the steps altogether.

What they really needed to do was make it so evolutions don't count towards lucky eggs. That just makes it lame because all you're doing is saving up evos and mindlessly evolving for 30 minutes as fast as you can. And people are jumping like 3 levels on one egg.

Honestly I play this game semi-casually as an excuse for my gril and I to go walking/visit parks and museums. I am kinda mad at pokevision being shut down though, but it's okay because it let us know where all the good spawn points in our area was before it was shut down.

I really feel that Niantic isn't doing things maliciously, just poorly because they probably only have 30-50 devs and promised game freak and nintendo a ROI without considering just how big a deal this would be.

Are you the developer for this? It works pretty well.

Could you make an option where you can deselect some tiles that you don't want to scan again? Some areas near my location are off limits, and if I could deselect these tiles and make the scanner skip them, it could speed up the scanning process for the rest of the tiles.

The geodude hatched from an egg, but everything else spawned with the last day or so after the spawns were changed. I still get just as many pidgeys/rattatas too, there's just also more rare pokemon around the stop a couple hundred feet from my front door.

"great" is 50 xp
"excellent" is 100 xp

you can get curveballs and style rankings at the same time. Good way to XP grind with a lucky egg, an excellent throw curveball is worth 420 (yolo blaze it etc) XP, well worth your time if you can get good at throws

I've hatched about 100 eggs now. The VAST majority of what I hatch are Rattata, Weedle, & Pidgey. After the patch, I've started hatching some basic grass & water types though, still nothing interesting. Oh I've hatched an Onix.

the greatest joy i have in life right now is immediately put a pokemon in the gym after they cleared it out, and then do it again once they cleared it out a second time.

most people give up after three tries, look around where the player from team valor hides, yet they never find me.

i usually watch them very closely with binoculars from behin a curtain, the expressions on their faces are hilarious. i also have a big digital camera near my window, and whenever someone pulls up in his car and plays in his car with the engine running, i take a picture of him and license plate. they get anxious and drive away quickly or get angry, and then i tell them i have evidence they were on their phone while driving which is illegal here.

Before yesterday the best Pokemon I had was a 1050 Vaporeon a 1001 Pincir and 911 Jolteon, while these gyms were full of 1700+ vaporeons.

Like I said, it is a very small town. Most people here are not higher than level 15. We don't have many Pokemon. Even I am only 22 and I drive out of town to go hunt, while this person is 28.

The only people who really roam the streets in packs are valor, which is what the other douche is, so they never had to struggle. I assume most go valor for that reason. Ironically they are cowards.
