It seems it was drawn around Crystal's high season, and it shows Charizard with the current shiny colors. But it still stayed purple\green in the games.

tl;dr you find out your secret ID and you find out your shiny frames. Trick is you have to catch a random shiny the old fashioned way, and calc its iv's and put it in some hard to find program

Is it strange to shiny hunt with no intention of using them, trading them, or anything of that nature? I don't even show them off unless I just encountered them.

I'm starting to wonder why I even hunt for them, considering this. Might be a little late for that since I have over 30.

I do play competitively, but that's in a battle simulator with no way to prove my shinies are legitimate.

I basically never battle other people, due to getting very salty over seeing a shiny i spent so long obtaining getting 1shot. I just like to have shinies of pokemon I like, though i try to make sure they're good in case i do battle sometime.

I'm going to try to breed a shiny Pikachu/Pichu via two Pikachu's. One is both foreign and already shiny (the dad, his IV's are just very meh). How much does that combo boost the chance for an egg to be shiny? (No charm yet.)

Being shiny already means nothing, 2 different nationalities means you can masuda them for increased chances.

Shininess does NOT affect shiny rate for the eggs outside of gen 2. You cannot breed Pichu, you must evolve it.

I'm not too sure on the rate without the charm, but it's 1/512 WITH the charm. You DO want to catch them all and get the shiny charm, right?

Not that guy, but personally I dislike the shiny charm or any method that makes shinies easier to find. It goes against the entire concept if you ask me, and I hate that they doubled the odds in gen 6. I'm sure someday shinies will be a 1 in 100 chance or something ridiculous.

Fish chaining is particularly silly, I once got a shiny from it in 11 minutes to prove how pitiful it is.

Get yourself a foreign ditto for Masuda Method, and Horde Hunting is your friend.
Also ORAS is the best game to hatch eggs in since the Daycare and infinite loop are in the same place.
Also, if you have a pokemon with Flame Body(Larvesta, Volcorona, Talonflame) or Magma Armor(Slugma, Magcargo) it will cut the amount of steps needed to hatch an egg by half.

I'm not sure how chain fishing works.
But chaining with the DexNav does nothing.
The only thing that matters is your Encounter rate, and that just gives you a chance at a mon with decent IVs. Dexnav gives you a flat increase to the odds of finding a shiny, I think it's the same as MM.
You have the same chance of finding a shiny on your first encounter as your thousandth.

Even with the charm some people's luck is bad enough that it still takes them weeks just to get one. The fact that they can be hacked into the game already makes their value intrinsically non-existent. I understand about the rarity thing but its still pretty rare for most normal people to find one without trying.

The only thing "chains" or the search level specifically does is increase the chance of having up to 3 ivs, hidden abilities, held items, and egg moves.

It finally happened.
I've been horde hunting for a Sandshrew all day and got it about 15 minutes ago.
Then I decided, "Oh, I might as well start SRing for Regigigas." I deposit my prize, load my team up with golems, and head to the Island Cave.
I head in there, not giving a fuck, hit the back room and the battle initiates.
I thought there would be an overworld sprite to save in front of, but no.
So I panic and reset and lost the Sandshrew.

Save immediately after you catch a shiny.

Honestly if you don't have the motivation you'll lose interest early. Hatching eggs can be quite tiresome and time consuming, in my opinion probably the most difficult shiny hunting method. I suppose only do it for pokemon you REALLY want that can't be found another way.

Well I'm really happy it didn't get cute charm, I used technician breloom before and loved it

As for nature, it already has a super low defense. But it could be better.

This is also white 2, wake up slap didn't get buffed from 60 to 70 power, so the minnicho can use it with the technician boost.

Only wished it had skill link and a slightly better nature, but I feel like I did good. Wished minnicho could learn icicle spear though.

So far as I can tell, the only thing you can't get is the Birds, so the best thing you can do is go back to FRLG, or try to get them from XY.
And ORAS is the only way to get shiny Zekrom and Reshiram.

GTS is your friend anon. So is Wonder Trade. Throw up something decent and ask for a basic mon you can evolve.

WT will help you fill out random stuff, lots of people send out breeding rejects so that's a good way to get stuff you don't have.

you can get version-specific pokemon by trading its equivalent usually (like clawncher for skrelp)

worst part for me was battle maison items and evolving the gen 4 pokemon.

Go on then, get started! Run around and dexnav catch everything you can, catch multiples as well. If you're working towards the charm, you may as well work towards a Living Dex as well so it's easy to get the charm once SM come out. If anything Emerald is the hardest game to fill the dex in.
