Even without that, the idea it's an "illness" would mean it's a disorder in the mind or body that needs to be fixed for the human being to function properly. Given the countless examples of homosexuality benefiting animals, and that homosexuality in humans harm no one, to even suggest it's an illness would require mental gymnastics of an absurd degree.

It used to be to point out people who wanted to get attention for being special in some way that has nothing to do with talent, but now it applies to anyone and everyone who isn't just like the critic using the term.
