>>27807528If you have the pokewalker on hand, you can get a Krabby with Crabhammer instead of waiting until level 56 to get an actual STAB move. Early Crabhammer decimates everything.
You can catch wild Steelix in cliff cave, if you're willing to deal with 2% encounter rate. That whole area in general (route 47, 48, cave and safari zone) lets you catch a good handful of pokemon much earlier than you could such as Misdreveous, Kangaskhan, Diglett, Grimer, Murkrow, Larvitar, Mr. Mime, Jigglypuff, Rhyhorn, Lapras, Cubone, Clefairy and lets you get an easy Marril without dealing with the 1% encounter rate bullshit. Speaking of Clefairy, if you get one with Magic Guard and play Heart Gold, you can get an early Life Orb thanks to the Ruins of Alph and Ho-oh, which life orb is great on Clefable because it can't take damage from it.
Forretress is also a very viable pick as it gets actual STAB moves this time around, and also learns Payback, which you're basiclaly hitting the enemies with a dark type Earthquake as Forretress is so slow.
