Man, the console games got me back into Pokémon after it became uncool in high school after gen 2 was a thing. If it weren't for Colosseum and XD I never would have gotten back in in 3rd gen.

For being based on such a dumb gimmick, Pokemon Ranger was surprisingly good. I really loved how the pokemon would run around and interact with you even in the RPG-ish overhead view; it really made the game world feel 'alive'.

Not really, it was only good for playing pokemon online on the big screen with bomb ass graphics and animations. The "campaign" is piss easy and just consists of a few battles against bots. I doubt anyone is still playing this and it and its only quality is the multi player.

They wanted Ho-oH to be a reward for only dedicated players but since it and GoD ended up being the only way to get the two outside of events until Hg/Ss (not counting gen 2 here since they can't be transferred forward) they made Lugia as a selling point of GoD. Wouldn't be much of a selling point if it was as tedious to get as Ho-oH was.

>TFW got Ho-oH from Colosseom 3 times but always traded in Mewtwo and Fug to make Mt.Batle less tedious.

The movesets are kinda shit but that's max i,vs and e.v trained. Shit will fuck you up if you don't have maxed out Pokemon which is a nightmare to get without cheating in gen 4.

Yes, that is true and this way it's actually quite cool because unlike those other gift mons you had to actually work for it.
They could've still kept Celebi, though. They even translated some of the Celebi text bits for the english version.
In general, they should've kept the gift mon thing in general to make events available to those who can't attend/get them.

It's because the mission for getting the Manaphy egg requires the bonus Ranger Net quest system to be unlocked by beating the game, and starting a new game doesn't affect the Ranger Net. So unless there's a way to reset the cart to factory settings, you get only one Manaphy egg per cart.

It's still better than trying to get eggs in 2 and 3 though, since those are just straight up impossible anymore.

I actually somehow did that when fucking around with action replay. I entered some code that wasn't properly made or something and it ended up resetting the cart so I got another Manaphy egg.

They pretty much already did this with XY and ORAS, along with the monthly mythical giveaways. Even Manaphy was given out recently, so it's not as rare anymore.

Is it? Was I misreading the rules or did you always have at least a 1/6 chance of beating the Elite Four no matter what Pokémon you had? I always used to spam chance cards to get there before beating Brock and win with my starter

I played a newer version of that game that had gen 3 mons at a board game cafe a little while ago.

What's good about these games is that you can very easily add your own rules to them to make them more enjoyable/difficult.

We actually had an amazing time playing the board game for a few hours just by adding one or two more rules to keep the difficulty higher.

I'm pretty sure we made it like a nuzlocke. Can't remember thoooo
