not really. It's definitely harder, but not by enough. The endgae teams you fight are all too small and made up of shitmons, so level doesn't really matter. Siegbold's Gyarados is pretty much the hardest thing at the Pokemon League, for reference.

but expanding the point, i think the most i ever grinded for E4 was putting all my mons on lvl50. and even that is already kind of overdoing it, you don't really need to be that level to beat the E4

Then you don't remember it at all. XY has 1 (one) "tough" battle if you're not using exp share on, which is the double Furfrou one, and that's it. Everything else you're so stupidly overleveled that even type disadvantages barely matter. I had to make an effort on doing stupid shit to actually lose a mon while nuzlocking XY vanilla

XY is no gen V you fool
the exp is more than generous if you keep your team through the game, which actually happens because you don't get any mons killed at all because the game is that easy

i'm really curious if you played XY at all now. the only reason i cant think to not get ahead of the gyms is if you purposefully avoid fighting trainers or run from random encounters, and this is what i would call "shitposting"

Why? To be stupid? The only level gap in gen 2 is when you need to fight clair (easy enough if you have ice moves) and when you fight red. Everyone else is so underleveled, specially the Kanto gym leaders, which is why it got changed on HGSS

I found ORAS a bit challenging. I didn't overlevel, and I only used shitmons as a rule. I didn't use any items in battles too.

My team was Vigoroth with eviolite, Illumise, Seviper, Cradily and Walrein.

Actually lost quite a few times in the E4.

There is literally no reason why GF shouldn't implement interchangeable difficulty (unlocked from the start obviously) other than them being lazy fucks. It's not even something that'd take up much time compared to the rest of the development process.

People want to feel challenged. And not everyone has the same skill level, so you'd think difficulty levels would've been a standard by now. The bullshit they come up with saying "the smartphone generation of kids want to finish their games faster and working adult fans do too" is just a bullshit excuse to cover up the fact that they don't want to spend time on it.

Black 2 has Challenge Mode, Registeel's chamber, and Black City + Black Tower. White 2 has Easy Mode, Regice's chamber, and White Forest + White Treehollow.

Honestly, I want they to come again with this idea to introduce a Challenge Mode on games with Mega Evolution and Z-Moves so you, your Rival, Hala, Villain Team Leader, and the Champion not be the only ones with this.

I played it without exp share and it's just like any other pokémon game.
Yeah, Gym battles are still underwhelming, for some reason, but league is just average challenging. Not super easymode.

Oras though, there's no way to enjoy a playthrough.

Gym leaders are incredibly weak actually.
From hardest to easiest without counting the post game imho it's:
Some random early game trainers that are harder than everything else in the game for some reason> League> Last Team Flare hideout>Team Flare>Late Game Routes> Gyms> Early game Team Flare> everything else

"Hard" might be an overstatement but korinna can be a challenge if you don't have psychic or fairy pokemon. Grant is easy.

Yeah no aside from a handful of early trainers they've all been buffed with higher levels and movesets than their RSE counterparts.
