Also, the other shinies feeling lazier may be because Gen 6 and Gen 7 are the first gens where they had complete control of the shinies, rather than being stuck with the game's palette swap system

Pallosand is literally the ONLY Pokémon I've ever hated at first sight and then seen the shiny and completely reversed my opinion. I've never seen a Pokémon entirely redeemed by its shiny before. I can't hate on Pallosand ever again.

Yeah, we've known this for a while. They even have a slightly different evolution sequence. (the background color is different when a standard Pokemon evolves into an Alola form)

Exeggcute evolves into Alolan Exeggutor in Alola. Outside of Alola, it just becomes a common Exeggutor.
As far as we know, you will only be able to obtain Alolan forms in Alola, and they will need to be traded forward through generations. We might get lucky with some kind of safari zone or island getaway in a future generation, but otherwise it looks like Alolans are Alola locked.

Since shiny Magearna looks almost identical to the normal one as does Marshadow, and Magearna gets an alternate Pokeball form with an actual distinct shiny, I think it's a safe assumption that Marshadow will get an alternate form in the next game, Hoopa-Unbound style, and that form will get a proper shiny since almost no one will use the base form over it.

However, Gamefreak has done more ridiculous things before just to keep people from being pissed about their bro not being available. If anything, I'm betting on either Cubone and Exeggcute having an Alolan form that just so happens to look exactly the same but code wise differs for the sake of evolution, or else using the Leaf Stone on Exeggcute or levelling it up in a cave gets the normal Exeggcutor and I have no idea how the fuck they'd handle Cubone but I'm sure they'd find some way
Mind, I guess this is the same company who made Umbreon and Espeon unavailable in FRLG, and Leafeon, Glaceon, Magnezone, and Probopass unavailable in HgSs

They'll be shiny locked for sure. And if by some stroke of luck they weren't I imagine it'll be determined when the battle starts and not during the cutscenes, since all the other data like IVs and nature are determined at the start of a battle.

So purple Muk are most common in Kanto, and Green are most common in Alola.

Zekrom is Shiny Locked right? In the Canon Pokémon Universe/Timeline, it is non-Shiny. There is one Zekrom, and it is Black/Blue.

But we see from OR/AS that in another universe somewhere, Zekrom is Black/Green instead.

So in the cases of unique Pokémon, the Shiny form just represents what the Pokémon looks like in another dimension.

The Hoopa movie even makes this abundantly clear, when it opens a portal to a dimension where Rayquaza is Black instead of Green.

If anything, Vanilluxe's shiny should have its ice parts be almost transparent, like most icicles, which would be now possible with its 3D model.
