As we understand it, Aria is entirely useless. Its worse than even something like heal pulse, because you would even have to damage your partner pokemon to heal its burn.

You fail to see the point. Water Shuriken is an underhwelming move in practice, but it doesnt usualyl have a place on a Greninja set. Thats ok, because water shuriken is a functioning move that has its limited uses.

This move, as we understad it, is literally useless. Its not simply outclassed, it doesnt seem to have a function. Im convinced we're all missing something huge that gamefreak failed to communicate.

The only potentially interesting thing is if it's strong as hell and accurate. Close Combat reduces defenses but has high power and accuracy, Brave Bird hits hard but has recoil. The only saving grace for this move is hitting hard and accurately, and there's no way they're gonna do that.

But I do agree that only doing damage + burn heal is pretty shit and non-intuitive for a kid playing the game.

I hope it is a smelling salt variant. 70 base damage on a 100% accuracy is not that bad, and getting it to 140 + burn heal is more realistic. What I like about this, is that the chances of it getting Serene Grace + Scald is higher.

Its super useful and if wre assume the owl has any set up moves, its great. They switch out hoping to stop you from setting up, you hit them for small damage and then can switch in knowing they have to stay in. Anything that eases prediction is useful.

This is GF we're talking about. Healing burns isn't a nerf to them, they don't care about singles. This is a move meant for doubles that heals your teammate's burn but deals damage. In other words it's a shit move no one will use that is themed for the mermaid because feminine design = support mon.

Signature moves are always shit anyway. Only Gen 3 had decent ones.

The japanese trailer shows it hitting an aerodactyl dealing heavy damage (possible OHKO). Earlier some other anon calculated that the attack has to have at least 80 bp to cause that much damage (assuming a special attack of 105).
If the move was meant to be used on allies, would the trailer not showcase it in that context?

Don't we only know the level of Aerodactyl being 54? That said, if it's basically special Earthquake except with a downside, I'd say it might be worth using. If it's stronger, it's definitely worth using. Otherwise, just use Scald.

Primarina is a singer and the move has aria in it's name. I'd say there's a good chance that the move is sound based. If i had to guess, i'd say we are talking about a water type hyper voice with a slight downside.
