The level curve in Colosseum was fucking retarded.
Your Pokemon are only like level 45 when you get to the top of the tower, then you get Evice with his level 60 fuckers.
Plus the fact that his team is actually good.

Pokemon Colosseum has a mechanic where trainers choose their starting Pokemon randomly. Half of the time, he leads with something stupid like Machamp and Slowking, so you never actually see any of his double combinations.

I wouldn't say randomly, as I've had instances where the AI specifically chooses pokemon that have an advantage over mine or nullify my strategies, and resetting doesn't change it.

The first trainer with Porygon2 in Realgam Tower for example will always send it out first if you have a mon w/Levitate and Earthquake out first so it traces Levitate every time. Move it to the second slot, and it also moves to the second slot so you can't EQ it.

I wasnt really impressed with the lack of music. I could see through their robot-animated characters and weird names that they were kinda trying too hard with that scene. until Evice showed up, and i was a little bit hyped

Evice is definitely 100% random (except the Tyranitar, which always comes out last). In my recent playthrough, I was having so much trouble with him that I had to redo that battle like 20 times. I'd just have to keep rushing in and hoping for a good pair of starting Pokemon.

It was my own fault for not swapping out the early game shitmons and accidentally choosing Bayleaf as my starter.

I did on my first playthrough since I thought he was the final boss.
Nowadays I'd still do it since fuck dealing with Metagross 3 catch rate.
Also it's easier now that I know of the Pokeball glitch.

I doubt the Shadow mons have a catch rate of 3 due to the recoil damage of Shadow Rush and Entei would otherwise be nigh impossible to catch with it being part of a Levitate/Protect+EQ team.

The Gamecube games are nice enough to skip the first shake check, so everything's significantly easier to capture than normal. Otherwise, the mechanics are identical to the main game.
