No, it's true. I tested it this morning with a 48 HP mon, and burn only removed 3 HP. I don't know why would they change it, now you can completely heal the burn damage with Leftovers.

If nobody runs Muk+shedinja, nobody prepares for it. If everybody does, then it means it is successful.

Also it is much less of a gimmick here because Muk is ensured to get wonder guard one way or another. There is final gambit, also the poison leftovers (forgot the name)

Muk doesn't get Final Gambit if he gets removed or has his ability taken away and taking away. I'm pretty into the possibilities with Alolan Muk, but I don't see the value in wasting a slot on Shedinja for a cheap gimmick. Plus, the terrain moves and weather are going to be the big things this time around so focusing on that with regards Muk adopting an ability would be the best course of action.

Since they're going all out with terrains this gen, maybe they wanted for gut/quick feet users with flame orb under grassy terrain to lose HP slower.

Grass heals everything on the ground by 1/16 each turn, so it cancels out burns now.

Shedinja GETS fucking Double Edge - why the holy hell would anyone use Final Gambit when Double Edge off of 90 Base Atk will still hurt? You can even use Life Orb or Sash depending on whether you want to get the hit in for sure or if you want to have a stronger Double Edge.

It doesn't matter how you spin it, there are all sorts of ways to counter it. Plus, taunt Aerodactyl, or any taunt user, is very possibly getting dealt with early on.

Most of them involve some sort of gimmick set that has absolutely no reason to be used outside of literally just countering WGMuk. This includes all your phazing/ability changing sets, since none of them are ever used in doubles outside of countering extremely specific sets.

Mold breaker is also on like 2 pokemon that are eligible for VGC.

Well, funnily enough I exclusively play bizarre shenanigans teams so I'd likely be ready for it anyway. If WGMuk actually works then it'll just be on every team anyway.

Wonder Guard just takes typing into consideration, not immunity removal via moves like Miracle Eye or Wonder Guard.

For example, hacked WonderTombs (both in R/S and ORAS), after being hit with Foresight, still couldn't be hit by Close Combat.

For the record though, Soak and Trick-or-Treat DO work, because they straight up change the Pokemon's typing. So a Soaked WonderTomb WILL get hit by a T-Bolt.
