There is a very big line between abuse and discipline. Even grabbing the wrest and yelling loudly is not mentally scarring, it depends on the situation. You just tried to run in front of a car and your mother has you by wrist, screaming? Yeah, it feels bad in the moment, but you'll get over it quick. Your parents are constantly grabbing and throwing you around, dragging you, yelling at you simply because they're upset and not because you've done anything? That's quite different.
I'd never call outright hitting your kid discipline myself
