Three random IVs are passed down from among the parents. If one of the parents holds a Power Item, the holder's IV in the corresponding stat is guaranteed to be one of the 3 IVs passed down. If one of the parents holds a Destiny Knot, 5 IVs are chosen instead of 3.
When breeding two Pokémon of different species (different stages in the same line count as different species), the parent that determines the offspring's species (female in male/female pairs, non-Ditto parent when breeding with Ditto) will pass down its ball 100% of the time (unless it's a Cherish or Master Ball, in which case the offspring will be in a regular Poké Ball). When breeding two Pokémon of the same species, either parent may pass down their ball.
