The only Dark-type move with any relation to darkness is Dark Void.

I still don't understand where this thing fits in the lore hierarchy. If it's really the deity of death, wouldn't it have to be older than most mortal Pokemon? But it hardly has any presence in even it's own game's backstory.

It actually made some sense before gen 6 though. And gen 7 doesn't disturb things too much, since like the gen 5 legendaries, the box legendaries are just powerful pokemon of legend of a specific origin, not dieities/avatars of laws of nature. Why did gen 6 have to go and head back into gen 4 territory?

But that's not true. The Original Dragon only split because the two brothers who founded the Unova region had different ambitions. Truth and ideals are just the values people assigned them with.
