Because you can't legally get hidden ability pokemon in HG/SS. You can get them in Alola by breeding an apricorn ball dad from those games with an HA mom in any ball.

In ORAS, only females pass down pokeballs
And only females pass down HAs (unless breeding with ditto)

So the only way to get a HA Apricorn Ball child is to have caught a female with a HA in an Apricorn Ball in the first place

You couldn't catch HA mons in HGSS, which was the only way to catch apricorn ball mons until now. And it used to be only the mother passed down the HA and the ball so it was impossible to breed them in.

Hey that chart reminds me, what color is shiny Cutiefly/Ribombee? I seriously can't tell, to me it looks like any combination of blue, grey, and pink.

Also, I don't see the appeal of the Love Ball aside from supply exclusivity. I like the look of the Heal Ball far better.

Hey, Balltists, how would you feel if greater ball customization became a thing in future games?

Stuff like the seals from DPP, being able to reskin your ball to another style.

And maybe from a mechanic standpoint you can have stuff like ball 'environs' for each type and special mechanisms that add things for different natures to boost pokemon happiness and maybe even heal/revive/restore some PP after winning battles?

Should work. No one's really be able to test it yet, save for Injectors. But no one's said it doesn't work either. The parents do have to be the exact same species, though, not just in the same evolutionary line.

As long as one of the parents is an Alola form, or the non-Alola parents both don't have an everstone, the kid will be the Alola form (if the base form has one). Since they're the same species, even with the form differences, in the dex, it should function like it does for Pokemon without Alola forms for the new Ball Inheritance mechanic.

It was only Ball Inheritance that changed and what now allows HA Johto Balls to be bred from mothers that aren't in Johto Balls. Every other time, they'll now have the Father's Ball as long as the parents are the exact same species.

But you can. Genderless Pokemon pass down balls now. It's why Beast Ball Beldum are hot commodities you can actually get right now.

Just find a Minior in the color you want, repeat ball catch it, then breed whatever nature and IVs you want on to it.

There are dream balls. They're just used very rarely. Look at the munna line.
Sport balls aren't there though. I thought they'd be a bit redundant since they're basically just regular pokeballs with a white pokeball logo on them and only a few Pokemon can have them legally.

Exactly. 50/50 only works when breeding the exact same species, though. So breeding a Feraligatr with Totodile won't work.

Starting on this made me realize that we've had three water-related balls, arguably Nest Ball and Safari Ball for grass, but nothing fire-themed. Should have had something that did some small amount of damage (with False Swipe mechanics) if the mon broke out. Or something, I don't know--I'm just irritated that this is half "copy+paste Fast Ball/Repeat Ball"

Not done yet, and only going for things that are possible without cheating.

Gens I and VI can be caught in XY Friend Safari and gens II and V can be caught in SM Island Scan, the latter only impossible to be caught in Safari/Sport Balls and maybe Dream Balls.
And I think gen III and IV could be caught in Dream Balls only due to the Dream World but I'm not really sure about that.

Also apologies for the possible spoon-feed but I want to ensure I am not in error.

Say I wanted HA Torchic in a Luxury Ball. Am I mistaken if I presume the process to be:

- Locate global link caught Torchic in Luxury Ball
- If it's female breed with a HA male Torchic until desired ability + ball
- If not wait until Gen VII bank is released and breed the two Torchics with Ditto until a viable pair is created

Wanted to ask if it was possible to switch a Pokemon's ball?

I have a Buneary, Ralts and Mawile in X that I want to transfer to Sun to breed them. Is it possible to have them switch balls to the Heal Ball through some breeding chain?

Also, I say Heal Ball because I find the process of getting pokemon in Love Balls annoying and don't find it worth it to trade for. I also already finished breeding all the Pokemon I would want in Love Balls

Being able to get whatever Hidden Power you want whilst still having perfect IVs really helps.

My only complaint really is that there aren't some "Red bottlecaps" or something similar, Gamefreak should surely know that getting 0 IVs in Attack and Speed is a common tactic on some pokemon.

Are you sure it wasn't 120? The base friendship for hatched Pokémon has always been 120, not 70, regardless of the base friendship for that species. I think the Friend Ball only works when you capture the Pokémon, not when you hatch it.

If it was 140 they might've changed the Friend Ball so it both works on hatched Pokémon and doubles friendship instead of setting it to 200. Can you check the caught Pokémon to see if it's still 200?

It can't be helped if something looks better in Beast balls, given that we've had shit choices for Steel/technology types outside of Heavy Ball. The closest color scheme is Quick Ball, and that looks like ass outside of stuff like Wishcash/Lanturn.

It's more criminal that the Beast Balls don't even match any of the UBs. They all disturbingly match other balls. Except Celesteela; it doesn't really match anything.
