Most cops in the Real world would probably have pokemon like Magnemite, Arcanine, Growlithe, and other easily trained and reliably good pokemon to suit their job
Actually, a Magnezone would be a good Cop pokemon, with decent speed, Electrical shocks and Thunderwave to subdue criminals, and access to moves like Light Screen, Protect, etc
If you look in the games, most people have pokemon, either as pets or otherwise. So, I imagine when people go for walks, they take their little pet mon with them as protection, even if it's just to dissuade wild pokemon from coming close.
