Why does anyone actually listen to this guy anymore? Fucking anyone can see S&M pushed the 3DS to its limits. Unless Nintendo makes a true sequel to the 3DS, with seriously beefed up hardware, gen 8 will either look exactly the same as gen 7, or else it will chug like fucking ass in 1v1 battles. I am not acting like Stars is anywhere near confirmed but, if Stars was real and for the Switch, it would make perfect sense for him to say that they have no intention of making a Switch Pokémon game. also the triple and rotation battles were cut because of perfomance due to adding trainers (VERY worthy sacrifice imo) and there's evidence that they were intended to be in the game (the 3 scientists in the AF lab and the 5 grunts you battle at the AF probably meant to be a horde)

However, even comparing SM to XY, I would say probably even freaking XY has more content (aka things to do after finishing the story) than SM.

RS, DP and XY are all cases of generic, boring Pokemon games that don't change the formula up much other than tweaking the battle system to his pleasure and two of those received updates from others that would become some of the better games in the whole series

Also I'm having fun trying to catch them all again, but that's more because I like the feel of Alola's design over Kalos or Hoenn. It's a little on the small side though

DP remakes at the end of next year on 3DS seems possible.

I don't get why people think Masuda has a choice on where Pokemon games call home. On top of there almost certainly being some for of exclusivity contract, Nintendo produces them and very likely controls the majority of ownership in the Pokemon franchise. So if Nintendo tells them the next one is on the Switch, which would bolster Switch sales, then Game Freak doesn't really have anyway to keep that from being the case.

Gamefreak's sole directive is to make Nintendo money, full-stop. They have typically done this with bumper software sales on mature systems. The main issue I have for its portability is the screen doesn't have the built in protection of GBA SP and DSs and modern screens seem more fragile than GBA SP and older. I still will bring it everywhere but in a backpack or man purse instead of my pocket.

I'm not saying this to prove the Switch is not going to replace the 3ds. But they definetly will coexist for at least a year, in some sort of transition phase. So, EVERY developer will be checking the consumer's reaction.
We don't know if the 3ds will be replaced because not even Nintendo and GF really know that.
What we can discuss is: Nintendo WANT the Switch to replace the 3ds? I think they want.
