>>31287714It's not a mega Machamp needs. At this point, he needs an overhaul of many things--HA, movepool, stat and move boosts. Mega means it competes for that limited slot, and an Alola forme means you take away the very essential aspect of Machamp by changing its typing.
I can't stand seeing the OG fighting type falling to RU while those ridiculous-looking """fighting""" types enjoy the higher tiers. Here's what I think our guy needs:
>HASteadfast is fucking garbage. This guy needs something like Defiant, Intimidate or Stamina (this one is pushing it but still). Anything to open a new niche. Guts is good now that burn is nerfed but Conkeldurr still takes this niche better. No Guard Dynamic Punch is indirectly nerfed by the confusion mechanic change.
>movepoolPhysical version of Quiver Dance. This would again differentiate it from other slow bulky fighting types. Really in the age of megas, formes, powerful fairies and Z-moves, this is far from broken. Again, this opens a new niche for the guy. If Conkeldurr gets longevity via recovery, then let Machamp get its bulk from sheer defense.
Boost DP BP to 120. Lycanroc and Golurk are enroaching on this set. While Machamp is still the best user, his advantage is getting less and less significant in the big picture. At least emphasize his specialization in this combo by bumping up the damage output to Zap Canon levels. And that STAB will further differentiate his offense over the two.
>stat changesGF has already shown they aren't afraid to move stats around. Machamp doesn't fucking need that 65 Sp Attack. Drop that down to 35 or even 45 and send that extra 20/30 points where they are needed (bulk). Machamp is lucky that despite coming from Gen 1, his stat distro is decent. But 5 generations after his last stat adjustment (Special stat split), even his stat distro shows glaring flaws compared to newer fighters.
At least two of these should at least make Machamp a bit more enticing to use in the meta.
