It has to do with substitutes being baton passed to it. Shedinja uses its defenses and the sub's HP in the calculation of damage from an enemy attack before the sub breaks.

I was trying to think of an ability linked to Lapras' concept as a ferry pokemon, so it gets faster when not ferrying. Of course I forgot about the fucking Mega Stone.

Lapras is my favorite pokemon, I just wish it was a bit bulkier or had better attack stats. It has a massive special movepool.

Destiny bond would still work but for the most part yes.

To be fair he was probably intended to work like OPs mega back in gen 3 before everything had entry hazards.

Make it work like contrary for all pokemon in the field for as long as m-malamar stays in. That way it stops common set up sweepers (dragon dance, quiver dance, swords dance, nasty plot) and only lets unconventional set up work (superpower, close combat, overheat, etc.).

You could also make the ability reverse type matchups so that malamar suddenly has no weaknesses and resists fairy and bug, but dunno how that'd work out.

I feel like Hustle is underrated as an ability. Shadow Punch is actually really threatening now, Earthquake is a recoil-free Head Smash with a better typing, Trick Room and/or Gravity turns it into a god-king of destruction.
Folds up into a rocket ship when using certain attacks, like Fly. Can't have it being totally immobile.
Also gets Shadow Sneak now for shits and giggles.

Slow, tanky Ice-type stopped working when Rock and Fighting got spammable moves and Stealth Rock started existing. Weavile is one of the only 'mons that does Ice properly nowadays. You want a Mega Weavile that does something different than base? Dump like 80 points into Special Attack and give it Sheer Force or Adaptability, at least it still works at whatever it's supposed to do instead of being a straight downgrade.

Yeah but 90/105/180 Defense with good offense and recovery could get overbearing especially when it can only be poisoned by Salazzle
