I'm beginning to think he was originally supposed to be a Fire/Fighting type, but somewhere down the line, they just went "fuck it" and made it the ultimate walking Tiger Mask reference due to the whole "Tiger Mask was indeed a heel wrestler but then had a change of heart", thus the Dark type being there.
