>>31669214Actually, if we're being technical, Hawaii is sorely lacking in gull species. No pelicans either. Some rarely get blown in injured via storm. They rarely fly here normally. Gulls are too coastal to reach Hawaii en mass. Other seabirds? Sure there are a lot of those, but most were extirpated from nesting on the main islands due to rats and mongooses. They primarily nest on the ground that's why. Almost every offshore islet is a seabird sanctuary, and the northwest islands are all seabird sanctuary. What I wouldn't have given for some more seabird variety though. Wingull is general enough for me to not really care about technicality, but I'd love for a frigatebird, albatross, tropicbird, booby, or a fairy tern.
