Holy shit, just stop with this meme. Emergency Exit may not be a Huge Power-tier ability but it is not 100% bad.

Golisopod is my favorite but Emergency Exit fits his design perfectly (From fleeing because he is a wimp to "H-hey guys, I'm switching out but it is not because I'm still a wimp or anything") and I don't want it to change anytime soon.

Not every pokemon has to be super competitively viable. I have had a lot of fun and success with golisopod in the battle tree super doubles, where emergency exit actually shines as an ability.

Battle Armor would be GOAT. Bulk Up, Iron Defense, Leech Life, Scald, etc gives it walling potential. Even provides utility with Taunt and Spikes.

The ability is often a liability in comp, but it was great fun to use during my playthrough. The AI never puts up sneaky pebbles and Golisopod learns Aqua Jet through breeding, making his low speed irrelevant.

It was also great for getting safe switch-ins. Switch a 70% Golisopod into an attack that brings it below 50% and you can switch something squishy like a Gengar in even on attacks the Gengar wouldn't have survived.

Araquanid can give Golisopod Water Bubble with Entrainment. A STAB Aqua Jet coming from Golisopod's attack stat with Water Bubble sounds crazy strong and it'd get rid of the unwanted switches too.

Emergency exit was the final breaking point where I realized abilities like run away or tangled feet are okay abilities. Yeah you might never get to see them work in battle, and are pretty much useless. But at least it doesn't fuck up your pokemon and force it into using a single set.

I understand the priority nature set is around and some people say it's not bad. But they should of at least given the poor thing inner focus as a hidden ability or something, just so you could try different sets.

Yeah sure but take another look at its design. Those TOUGH CLAWS and BATTLE ARMOUR sure are INTIMIDATEing. I wonder if that SHELL ARMOUR is BULLETPROOF? It definitely looks very STURDY at least. I doubt many pokemon can withstand the SHEER FORCE of its attacks, I'm sure it must be very UNNERVEing to face. It doesn't look like the coward it once was, its a more STEADFAST creature now. One look at those COMPOUND EYES and you can tell its got GUTS. I also hear Golisopod likes to meditate underwater, I'm sure to improve it's INNER FOCUS. Since it spends so much time underwater, i wonder if it's a SWIFT SWIMmer?

The irony is that Golisopod is fairly commonly used in cart tournaments and is one of the more used Pokemon in online.

Same for Araquanid and a bunch of other apparently terrible Pokemon, a lot of them are in high ranking tournament positions. Although, megas are banned in most of these.

He has access to Giga Impact.
When opponent is going to drop you below 50%, use Giga Impact.
Deal 150 power hit backed by 125 base attack.

The ability works into his gimmick move, which is fine. Unfortunately incognito ore ruins him, but really, covert sediment ruins everything.

What really is unforgivable is not having Emergency Exit trigger at the end of turn.

Defeatist Golisopod by a long shot. EE Scarf Archeops becomes a godly pivot with Base 140 attack, Base 110 Speed boosted by Scarf. Hilariously enough, you might be able to trigger Emergency Exit through Head Smash recoil. The thing with Defeatist Golisopod is that it at least has Swords Dance and the bulk accompanied to setting it up, so it could at least negate Defeatist.

It was #26 most used in the latest online competition. Oddly beating out Buzzwole, which is #30.
It also has made the top 30 in some of the other tournaments.

Give it any other ability than Emergency Exit. That's pretty much it, it has all the right stats and it has Swords Dance. It's slow as shit but it has priority STAB plus Sucker Punch.

Using a Wimpod/Golisopod in my playthrough really shone a light on how shitty Emergency Exit is. Gamefreak has handicapped Pokemon like Slaking and Archeops with shitty abilities but then they go and allow Mega Rayquaza to Mega Evolve without holding an item.

I've used it on SM online with different items, and it's considerably more successful than playing Smogon. Not one I'd pick over Araquanid for my bug/water, but still works much better on the game than on smogon's simulator.

Golisopod killed Greninja 125% of the time. 100% 1v1 and another 25% when it scared the opponent into not bringing it.

Slap a life orb on it and give it some hazard removal, and you've got an amazing mon. Great bulk, high attack, and its speed gets circumvented by its powerful priority moves.

Probably, but sitrus pod worked well enough there, since it eats the berry before EE activates and negates it most of the time. Not the best set I've used though, very situational.

Considering the fact that Dark is weak to Bug, Ash Water Shuriken, even with boosted proiorty, is just a Water type move, and the defenses are not that good vs. 90 BP with a huge attack; Golisopod almost always kills it.

But Golisopod? It's the Gyarados of the generation. This thing looks like it could break your fucking neck in half.
It's toughened up thanks to its trainer's patience and willingness to work with it. The trainer gives it the courage to stop running away and actually fight back.

There's no reason for Golisopod--literally a goliath-sized bug--to still keep running away during battle.

You could try, but it's not really necessary. He appreciates the power much more. Besides, using life orb gives you pivoting opportunities thanks to his ability. For example, if you're at 55% HP and you're opponent sends in a counter, use a priority move to get a little bit of damage (even if its ineffective), and the life orb recoil will make you switch out and allow you to get an easy switch.

The reply you responded to simply mentioned "tournament" not specifically VGC. The Kanto VS Alola Region Rumble is considered a competition. It has also had a few areas where it was used in VGC matches, if you frequent the VGC general.

It has been used in a bunch of endgame tournaments in VGC, even if the guy wasn't specifically talking about VGC.
Hell, shit like fucking Alolan Persian and Silvally are in the top placing teams in many of these things, so even with all the Tapus and UBs floating around, Golisopod isn't even a far fetched pick.

Also even with parting shot, there are better users, the only thing is that they can't be used in VGC that only lets the Alolan dex be used. Alolan Persian is also deadweight after that one shot, at least Silvally can explode. Golisopod isn't the worst shit in there by a mile.
