>>32293003Because it's completely impossible for both ideas to be incorporated into a single design, right? Its claws aren't COMPLETELY flat, but they definitely aren't perfect ellipses. The way it holds its claws up like it's trying to block, I don't think it's too out of the realm of possibility.
And sure, there will be a "canon" reason why Pokemon look the way they do, but dex entries don't break the 4th wall when it comes to explaining the design's inspirations. Passimian's dex doesn't ever say "Passimian is a literal rugby/football player", it just talks about the species being known for its teamwork, for example. The fur can be used to evoke yeti fur as WELL as give the impression that it's past its prime, which I think holds up because it's Hala's signature Pokemon.
So it's possible for Crawbrawler and Crabominable to be everything that both of us mentioned, and that's part of why I like it so much.
