Waifufags like Lillie, but everyone else would be furious if they were forced to play an actual character and not a blank slate they can freely customize, just look at the backlash ORAS got for not being able to do anything with Brendan or May and they were blank slates to begin with.

I think the backlash was because you weren't able to customize a blank slate character.

Taking away customization to make the player character an actual character probably wouldn't go so badly

Or maybe pallet Town is a huge city now. It's probably been at least 5 or more years in the time line if it's a sequel. Maybe the protagonist is reds daughter scarlet or his son rojo.

I think a remake would be cool too but I'm more for a sequel as well. But what would they call it pkmn red&blue 2? Would you play as red or son/daughter or a new blank slate protag or Lillie? Hell I'd be down for a official game where you plays as young oak. Sumo Pokemon with Kanto forms would be awesome.

What do the anime and manga have to do with anything? They're adaptions of the games, of course they'd keep the same characters.
And I do expect Lillie to get shoved down my throat harder than Lucario dick in Gen 6, but I really hope they don't.
