>>32511399Early gen monsters often had limited color palettes compared to today's designs -- particularly, I looked to Dragonite (orange, tan, some green) and Kingdra (blue, tan, some white). Though not a Dragon-type, I also looked at Tyranitar for some inspiration for how to make a color palette for a comparatively busy early gen mon. Since Noibat's predominate color is purple, I decided to run with that over the teal and red.
A common design feature, especially in Gen I, was toe spikes. After removing the red spots on Noivern's feet, I considered adding some toe spikes -- but then I looked at Aerodactyl. After deciding against toe spikes, I also went with making the claws black to match the rest of the wing (which I made completely black, removing the purple stripes completely).
I debated whether or not to keep the wing protrusions, but ended up keeping them as in the model, they connect to the grasping claws. I did make both these protrusions and claws shorter, however.
And yes, I edited the eyes to make them more early gen. To be honest, I probably could've gotten away with keeping the originals) with minor tweaks), but I think these eyes fit decently.
There's probably going to be even more critique on this one, but hell, it's okay enough for me. Let me know what changes you guys would make and I'll consider them! These have been more fun than recolors, anyway.
