Breath of the Wild has been getting a lot of praise since it's launch on how it innovated the Zelda franchise. It took away many core aspects of the series and took a new spin on the series.
Sun and Moon have obviously taken a step in a similar direction but, ultimately, all they did was remove the Gyms. The main format is still the same. Hell, Colosseum and Gale of Darkness were more innovative than Sun/Moon were in the long run.
So, how do we apply to Pokemon what was applied to Zelda? How do we really spice up the franchise? Maybe take a Final Fantasy-esque route?
