Do you want the game to die? Making different versions of the game incompatible would kill players at school for example. Also people at work. Also anyone like me, who only opens a game once every week or two. Do you really want to sit down and let it update after update every time you want to play? That would make me very, very quickly stop purchasing the games. I hate when consoles update on their own so much nowadays anyway.

OP here, I actually thought this through, what if you have an updated game and I don't, we're at school and then we connect to battle, so, what if my version sends the update contents to yours? It would be like sharing the update and spreading, it's not hard to do.

What a shitty idea. You're basically disregarding the fact that Pokemon games at core are single player games with optional multiplayer aspects. If you want some form of balance just use Smogon rulesets or go on Showdown. And before you fucking quote me and say >SMOGON just know that Nintendo would be far worse if they actually tried to balance these games on a bi-monthly basis.

You can't just "disable the update," reversing it would require time and deleting data, potentially deleting your save file information, and then redownloading said data later on - but without your save data.

Do you not know how 3DS updates work? It's not at all hard to do that, and your save is obviously not part of the ROM, so it will be unaffected by the update.
