It'd actually be rather good if it did include Pokémon, though I doubt it will.

Bank alone is $5 a year so that'd make the other online even more worth it at just $15.

Then what exactly is the problem? The way I see it, Pokemon's servers are shit, and since Nintendo has already said that the online fee will actually go towards improving servers, it seems like something worth paying for. Plus if you're ONLY buying a Switch and using its online for Pokemon and no other games you're kind of a retard.

Pondering out loud here: Isn't being able to play Pokemon anywhere on a handheld a big part of the appeal? I was in their latest commercial thing and it's the entire premise of Pokemon Go. If they made it an MMO-style thing then it would have to be on a handheld if they wanted to keep that appeal.

I think that it should stay as a single-player handheld game, but with access to online multiplayer where you can fuck around with other players instead of just battling. However, this in-the-world feature is entirely optional and is the only paid part. The main game, as well as battling and GTS trades, will remain "free" insofar as whatever you paid for the game to begin with. Not on-disc DLC so much as an MMO with an offline feature that you don't have to pay a sub for.

The Switch can go anywhere you need to go though so that appeal is still there. The 3 hour batterylife is the only issue. It'll probably get a batterycase eventually to bleed money out of people at least.
