Soooo... Here's my doomed vision based on what we know so far.
F2P Pokémon games on phones and Switch will make parents not to so likely to buy mainline games plus the console/handheld anymore in the future, especially parents that are not as well off as others. The incredibly cheap Switch Lite was made for parents that want cheap consoles for their kids just like the 2DS, but nowadays you can get decent smartphones for $150 like the non flagship phones Nokia is shitting out every year that are actually really good for their price, that plus the fact many parents give their old smartphones to their kids because they get ones with their contracts for free*.
The increase of success of F2P Pokémon mobile games over the mainline games will make TPC focus more and more on mobile games because they are the most profitable, this puts Game Freak in a really bad spot as developers and partial holders of the Pokémon IP. Game Freak must have known about these developments much earlier because of their sudden focus shift from Pokémon games to their own IP games, plus the creation of Pokémon Quest to make their own mobile game which failed because Game Freak didn't realize mobile games need constant updates to keep people interested which is too much for them and they gave up. Remember, the CEO of TPC thought the Switch would fail... He even wanted it to fail.
Creatures Inc. might not be so well off in the future either. As far as we know, their only relevance with Pokémon nowadays is the creation of 3D models for Pokémon, Detective Pikachu, and the 3D Pokédex. With no significant IP they basically exist for 3D modelling for Pokémon games alone and creating Pokémon spin offs that the majority of people don't care about, except Detective Pikachu, maybe.
This whole situation is really bad for Game Freak and maybe also Creatures Inc.. Either Game Freak gives it their all with future Pokémon main games or die trying.
